Phoenix Cluster: Photo by Chandra X-ray ObservatoryA Found Poem

In the Phoenix constellation,
5.8 billion light-years from Earth
the core of a galaxy cluster
is giving birth to countless stars.

Hundreds of thousands of galaxies,
suspended in hot gas,
held together by gravity,
are the largest structures in the cosmos.

In the center of these galactic gatherings
live supermassive black holes,

Jena Morrow
“I am forever engaged in a silent battle in my head over whether or not to lift the fork to my mouth, and when I talk myself into doing so, I taste only shame. I have an eating disorder.”
Jena Morrow, Hollow: An Unpolished Tale

C.S. Lewis
“If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.”
C.S. Lewis

C.S. Lewis
“Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on; you knew that those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised. But presently He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make any sense. What on earth is He up to? The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of - throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards. You thought you were being made into a decent little cottage: but He is building a palace. He intends to come and live in it Himself.”
C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity

Madeleine L'Engle
“I will have nothing to do with a God who cares only occasionally. I need a God who is with us always, everywhere, in the deepest depths as well as the highest heights. It is when things go wrong, when good things do not happen, when our prayers seem to have been lost, that God is most present. We do not need the sheltering wings when things go smoothly. We are closest to God in the darkness, stumbling along blindly.”
Madeleine L'Engle

Shauna Niequist
“We sometimes choose the most locked up, dark versions of the story, but what a good friend does is turn on the lights, open the window, and remind us that there are a whole lot of ways to tell the same story.”
Shauna Niequist, Bittersweet: Thoughts on Change, Grace, and Learning the Hard Way

Sharon hey, have you read "till we have faces" by c. s. lewis? what do you know about it?

message 2: by Janeen (last edited Aug 25, 2016 11:02AM)

Janeen hey tammy~thanks for bringing me in to this little network. i am almost done with "Grace Eventually" and it is good, but not as good as Traveling Mercies. it is more of a collection of essayish writing, and one of the chapters threw me back a bit: she writes about assisting in a suicide!?? isn't that illegal?

jacqui tammy i miss your cool jpusa bedroom and how we would sit on the couch and talk about books and art and then go get cheap tacos and loose ourselves in a scary whirlwind of baseball women. amazing memories, really. and the trip to philly and how you barely shared your mom's cookies with me on the way home. thats right, i didn't forget.
