"Been reading this book for more than three years and just reached page 42. World's strangest history book. Author uses no footnotes and his genteel, discursive style gives the impression he dictated the whole thing, requiring no research. Book is some deep inside baseball on C-town, assuming a working knowledge of local 18th century planter families sufficient to merit introducing main players only by their surnames." — Dec 14, 2011 02:10PM

"Shoulda been Alec Guiness: Gay, Probably. Never seen one man work so hard to pull another out of the closet; a particularly bizarre thing to do when said outing is of a dead man and that there is little approaching no evidence to suggest he was into dudes and less evidence to suggest that matters to anyone besides the author." — Dec 06, 2010 07:16AM
