Daniel de Lorne writes about men, monsters and magic.

In love with writing since he wrote a story about a talking tree at age six, his first novel, the romantic horror Beckoning Blood, was published in 2014. At the heart of every book is a romance between two men, whether they’re irresistible vampires, historical hotties, or professional paramours.

If you take your LGBT romance fiction with supernatural, urban fantasy or contemporary flavoring, Daniel de Lorne delivers.

In his other life, Daniel is a professional writer and researcher in Perth, Australia, with a love of history and nature. All of which makes for great story fodder.

And when he’s not working, he and his husband explore as much of this amazing world as they can, from the ruins of

What works for someone else might not work for you so take the time to find your best practice and what you enjoy. Read a lot, write a lot, rewrite a lot and don't be in a rush to publish.(less)

Dystopian is probably not the best thing during these uncertain and harrowing times, but I'm sticking with it. Three of the books are written (though need revisions) and I have one novel left to write. Aiming to release in the second half of 2020. Stay tuned!(less)

Prologue

On the first night, the thirty-one exiles had been too worried about another sneak assault from Providence to talk or grab much sleep. The next morning, they marched north on Nimue’s insistence that an ark she’d scouted, Prosperity, was the humans’ best hope for safe haven.

And the Darisami’s.

On the second night, their number had re Read more of this blog post »

Quotes by Daniel de Lorne  (?)

“He took his hand and something sparked in the handshake. It coursed up his arm and fluttered in his chest. He gritted his teeth as he tried to keep his face smooth, pleasant, while lightning struck his heart. Reiner looked straight into his eyes, and when Thierry returned his intense gaze, he was bewildered as to where and when he was.

The breath he didn’t need to take caught in his dry throat.

The lights around him seemed to dim, leaving only the two of them illuminated. His muddled mind tried to understand what was happening, but as he groped for answers he found nothing to hold. Like trying to catch water.”
Daniel de Lorne, Beckoning Blood

“Olivier throbbed in his veins. Not feeding put Reiner at risk. His own hunger mixed with Olivier’s madness meant Reiner’s throat would be too alluring for the wrong reasons. A descent into the wilderness would help dispel some of it; the blood would drown the rest.”
Daniel de Lorne, Beckoning Blood

“Animosity grew like algae on a pond. While before they might not have talked a lot, there would still be a touch, however fleeting, or a look, sometimes even a smile, to stir in some kindness and disrupt hatred’s spread. Now light and oxygen couldn’t get in. Life withered, leaving in its place a dead indifference.”
Daniel de Lorne, Burning Blood
