The Purple Lady was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. She credits her eclectic taste and talents for music, art, and writing to her distinctive upbringing by her parents, a fiercely dedicated-to-his-family carpenter and a music-adoring nurse whose alter ego was a grammar aficionado who never lost at Scrabble.

Current inspirations include but are not limited to: Joy Cultivation, Surviving Divorce Gracefully, Single Parenting When All Your Children are Your Height or Taller, Stopping to Smell the Roses Even Though You Have ZERO Time To Do So, and of course All Things Purple.

And if you couldn't tell, those inspirations are probably going to be titles of upcoming books.

The Purple Lady Write. Just write. Keep writing. Read other writing: books, poems, blogs, newspapers, magazines. And then think and write.

Gratitude Month 2025: Writing

Every time someone reads one of my poems and tells me how my writing touched them or helped them understand something special or understand life a little more, I am thankful for being able to write what comes to my mind. It takes an education to know how to write and creativity to put words onto the page in a way that others would want to read it. I am grateful to have had such inspiring teachers Read more of this blog post »
