C. H. Cobb has a non-stop imagination, identifying with James Thurber’s Walter Mitty. His career as a spinner of tall tales began by regaling his small children with the adventures of Moe, the spider that lived in the bathroom fan.

He now writes military/espionage novels, dystopian fictions, and political thrillers. Kirkus Reviews has compared his writing to that of Tom Clancy and Dale Brown.

His three children are now grown (and are all in some form of the arts, as are their spouses), and he lives with his wife Doris in Ohio where he serves as the counseling pastor of a church.

I was given a sabbatical by my church, and decided to use the time to revive my fading skills in Hebrew, and thought Psalm 90 would be a great place to do that. (Unfortunately, for me, Hebrew is one of those "use it or lose it" propositions--and since I'm rarely in the Hebrew text, those skills have faded again). The book is a product of my sabbatical.

It helps to strip it down to the essentials.

If I'm blocked because of discouragement I spend some time looking at readers comments.

Sometimes I'm just out of juice. I'll let myself put the thing down for a week or so, and use my discretionary time doing something fun. But after a week or so, I tie my butt to the chair and get to work again and just start writing. Sometimes what I write in those times is pretty bad, but I don''t worry about it, knowing that it will get washed, spun, dried, and folded during the many re-write and edit cycles.(less)

Review of Andrew Snelling’s two-volume Earth’s Catastrophic Past

Earth's Catastrophic Past

It would not be hyperbole to say that these 1100 pages are Snelling’s magnum opus. Extensively documented, irenic in tone, accessing the works and research of both conventional scientists as well as creation scientists, Snelling makes a solid case that the Genesis record of both Creation and Flood is well supported by painstaking science and empirical data.

“There's got to be more to life than just avoiding death”
C.H. Cobb

“The West committed suicide, and the East merely feasted upon the carcass. Your people destroyed themselves. They exalted the autonomous self, like the Europeans before them, and lost the soul of their civilization. They dehumanized themselves, and found themselves not worth saving.”
C.H. Cobb, Outlander Chronicles: Phoenix

C.H. Cobb, Outlander Chronicles: Phoenix

“All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.”
J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

“On matters of style, swim with the current, on matters of principle, stand like a rock.”
Thomas Jefferson

“Whenever I feel the need to exercise, I lie down until it goes away.”
Paul Terry

“If I can trust the word of a friend, why do I question the word of the God of the universe? Go figure. Sin is truly bizarre." [Running Scared, p. 111]”
