Ashley Jeffery grew up in the central valley of California. After years of devouring any books she could get her hands on, she finally got up the courage to write her own stories. The Wild Hunt is one of the many stories she started writing years ago. Ashley primarily writes Adult Fiction that leans towards urban fantasy, horror and the paranormal.

Even though her characters can be, and are often times monsters, Ashley wanted them to be believable, and flawed. As a reader and writer she wanted them to be both damaged and realistic, making sure they were layered with facets of both right and wrong. Even if the circumstances they lived with are fantastical Ashley likes to think that them as people could exist in today's world. Walking down bu

Everything and anything that you enjoy. Even some things that you don't what better way to learn than to learn from other's mistakes. READ, all the time. As much as humanly possible. Every book has a lesson within it. It's also like programming your brain. If you want to be a painter you study the masters. Writing is the same. You need to understand the craft you are undertaking. That doesn't mean that you have to go to college or have a formal education, though it wouldn't hurt, it just means that in order to write you need to be able to see the book and read it. What better way then to read everything you can get your hands on.

You'd think that filling your head with more stories while you are writing would mess up your plotting but it doesn't. It's a relief, a vacation, a small beat of time where only that book exists. All of your problems, bills, responsibilities, deadlines, they disappear.

And last and most important of all...is to WRITE. Write everything, your thoughts, feelings desires. Write your dreams, memories, favorite places or things to eat. Blog, it doesn't have to be public, do it for yourself, do it for your craft, because next to reading everything in sight, you need to write down everything you can. It's honing a skill. Sharpening a knife. Practice makes perfect.

I'm also working on the outline for Soul Eater, the third book in The Wild Hunt Series. I just started working on a new book, something I haven't done before. It's something more contemporary.

I generally have more than one project going on at one time. I enjoy being able to switch between books if I hit a rough patch or need to work through an idea mentally. I spend a lot of free time just going over the storyline in my head, like a puzzle I'll piece it together until the urge to put it all down on paper comes over me.(less)

Complicated

Life has been so strange lately. I find myself angry for no reason. Caught somewhere between denial and oppression.

Hoping that I’ll wake up and the loss of this last year will be erased or worse pretending it never happened. I’ll see a friend pregnant or that someone just had their baby and I’m so envious and angry I can’t see.

Why do they get their baby? Where’s mine?

And I hope that no one knows

“Someday you’re gonna realize that no one on this earth will ever love you the way I do. You’ll wish you’d said the words, wish you’d had this moment back. The truth is whether you say them or not I’ll still go on loving you. Even when it hurts, even when I feel it cut me up inside and I bleed…I’ll still love you, but someday…probably sooner than either of us want it to be….someday…I’ll hate you for it.” Raylan’s words are cruel and wonderful at the same time.”
Ashley Jeffery

“What do you want from me Duncan?” My breath caught in my throat when he licked his lips and swallowed hard. “I don’t know everything and nothing. I feel like you’re this giant flame that I can’t get away from. I fight the pull; I try as hard as I can to move in the other direction but something keeps bringing me back. I left town hoping I’d never come back here, but here I am. I guess I’m sick of fighting it. I’m willing to take the chance of burning up the question is, are you?”
Duncan-The Wild Hunt”
Ashley Jeffery

“The scars weren’t overly red, but faded, some just light lines on my skin. Some of them I could cover with makeup, while others would never truly disappear. I felt like they completed me. A reflection of the way I felt inside."---Lo The Wild Hunt”
