Write about it. Write about not being able to write. Ask yourself questions.

Run.

Take a break, give your head a rest.

The Spinner

The old elms in the park blocks swayed in the wind. Street lights pushed into their branches, making the green leaves glow like the crowns of forest kings. Beneath the trees, in the darkness beyond the light, a group of homeless kids stood in ragged silhouette, their dogs and backpacks wi Read more of this blog post »

“I would stand and look out over the roofs of Paris and think, "Do not worry. You have always written before and you will write now. All you have to do is write one true sentence. Write the truest sentence that you know.”
Ernest Hemingway

Robert Fulghum
“We’re all a little weird. And life is a little weird. And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall into mutually satisfying weirdness—and call it love—true love.”
Robert Fulghum, True Love

“How did it get so late so soon?”
Dr. Seuss

Charles Bukowski
“If you're going to try, go all the way. Otherwise, don't even start. This could mean losing girlfriends, wives, relatives and maybe even your mind. It could mean not eating for three or four days. It could mean freezing on a park bench. It could mean jail. It could mean derision. It could mean mockery--isolation. Isolation is the gift. All the others are a test of your endurance, of how much you really want to do it. And, you'll do it, despite rejection and the worst odds. And it will be better than anything else you can imagine. If you're going to try, go all the way. There is no other feeling like that. You will be alone with the gods, and the nights will flame with fire. You will ride life straight to perfect laughter. It's the only good fight there is.”
Charles Bukowski, What Matters Most is How Well You Walk Through the Fire

Not so much writing actually just a lot of editing and just working on tightening up my writing. I don't know which one is my BEST it's hard for me to say...
But what you have going on sounds exciting! Good for you :)

John Rykken Four novels. Wow, that sounds like a lot of writing! Which is your best, do you think? My writing's been going well. I've been working on the sequel to Bloodwood. It's shaping up to be a long book, so I don't think it will be out within the next six months, but probably within the next twelve to eighteen.

Okay, have a good one! Onward to the tale!

John

Things are going really well. I've been super busy the last little while here I'm trying to get four novels ready for the RWA Golden Heart Award contest. If I win or even come close to winning it would be a HUGE leap for my career. Thanks for asking.
I've never been to LA or Seaworld but it sounds like fun! How's your writing coming? Is there another book coming out any time soon?

John Rykken Hey,

How are things? Doin' well here. Stayin' busy with the usual work, writing, coffee consumption. Went to LA a few weeks ago to visit my sis and take a day trip to see the dolphins at Sea World, which was fun. How's the writing?

John
