Ashi wrote: "Dear Jean what's your opinion about Malala Yousafzai? And the tragedy she faced?"
Ashi, I believe thatMalala Yousafzai is a very brave young woman and that she is doing wonderful things to advance education for young girls. What do you think of her?
Ashie, none of us know what we might do under such circumstances and I suspect that you would be bolder than you think if someone was trying to keep you from reading and obtaining an education. There are many brave women who simply keep on doing what is needed. I offer the same prayer, that God will protect her and that also people will stand beside her, as they are doing. Thanks for asking. I'm finishing up a new book now. It is a true story featuring two women and is titled: YASMEENA'S CHOICE which is a very forceful look at what women endure when they are used as pawns in war. THis problem is not limited to the Middle East, as you know, although the women are Middle Eastern. Sadly, when armies go into foreign lands, there will always be some very bad men who believe that women are the fruits of war. Somehow we must stop this, or at least make the punishments very severe as to women are not used in this way... I hope you have a wonderful day and thank you for writing. Jean
Yes that's true. I agree with you. Malala is very self confident, brave girl. If I'm to truly spoken.. I'll never be able to do what she did. I'll be hidden under the veil and do as they told. May god protect her every minute....What are your "book plans" about middle east? Any new books to be written about?
I believe that Malala is a very unusual girl, particularly for her age. It's rare to find a 15-yr old who is so bold and so focused on education and so willing to fight such brutal opponents as the Taliban. She has given hope to so many young women in the world. I believe that this incident will lead the Pakistani government to put more emphasis on fighting the Taliban and keeping them out of the lives of innocent citizens. No one should rest until the Taliban is totally disbanded and so discouraged that they can no longer attack innocent people in Afghanistan and Pakistan and other countries. I heard that the family is going to go back and live as they always lived but that the Pakistani government will insist upon protection. I see where Malala got her character as her father is a very determined and brave man. This is a family whom will make a huge difference in our world and we should all support them. And, that is my opinion!
