It takes place in a historic bed and breakfast which once belonged to a famous author. The descriptions of the old house were so rich with detail and history that I wished it were a real place so I could book a room there. It all just sounded so beautiful, I couldn't stop thinking about it. So if I could step into a fictional book world, I would choose that book so I could spend a night at the bed and breakfast.(less)

Their relationship just grew so much while I was writing about them and became so much deeper than I ever imagined it would, it left me in tears at times.

To pick a couple from a book I've read is a lot harder because I don't read a lot of romance. I guess I would go with Henry and Clare from The Time Traveler's Wife. That book brought me the closest I've ever been to loving the romance genre.

If I'm allowed to talk about TV couples, there are a few, but high up on the list would be Mulder and Scully from The X Files. I loved how the sexual tension between them grew slowly and when they finally got together it was so subtle I almost missed it my first time viewing the series. But it totally worked and I adored them together. A relationship that surprised me by being so completely perfect while at the same time unexpected was that between Sawyer and Juliette on Lost. That one actually made me cry, and I love it when that happens because it does not occur very often.(less)

Indie Book of the Month: September 2018

This makes two months in a row that I'm late posting my book review. Sorry about that. Other parts of my life are taking too much of my attention away from reading lately. I'll find a happy balance soon, I promise.

For this month's book, I chose The Wounded World by Ariele Sieling.

Earlier this year I reviewed All In, a prequel to The Wounded World. I can definitely detect a maturation in Ms. Si Read more of this blog post »

I must have been in high school the last time I read this book. I know the story well, of course, because I've seen quite a few of the many movie adaptations. This Christmas I decided to go back to the source and read the actual book.

There's somethi

A nice little slice of life story. Not much in the way of plot. Just a snapshot of one boy's life in one specific place at one specific time. I think the people who left poor reviews would do well to remember that the author was primarily a poet and ...more

Didn't care for this one too much. The premise was interesting, but the execution could have been better. There was too much head-hopping, for one thing. I know the no head-hopping rule for writers is more of a suggestion and that if done skillfully, ...more

I debated whether to give this four or five stars.

On the one hand, this book made me rethink my previous comments about Star Trek books generally not being very well written. This one has a level of depth and detail that I would not have expected. I
