Again, there’s a lot to be learned. Did you know that time traveling is uncomplicated, and there’s almost nothing to worry about? It’s not a problem to end up as your own parent. And worrying about changing the course of history is unnecessary. The only thing that causes a headache is the grammar. How do you speak about an event in the future of the past for example? It gets especially complicated to choose the right tense when you’re speaking while traveling through time.
Another interesting thing is the fact that 85% of all civilizations have (or will or will have) invented a drink with a very similar name, each of them doing so before ever having had any contact with another civilization. The drinks, however, are not necessarily similar. One example of one of these drinks is the jynnan tonnyx; Arthur and Ford notice that it resembles Whisky and Soda quite a lot.

In The Restaurant at the End of the Universe, there’s more of Zaphod, Arthur, Ford, Trillian and Marvin, and they end up at the most unlikely places (and times) and meet lots of interestingly strange characters. One of these places is, as the title suggests, the restaurant at the end of the universe, which is not only at the end of the universe, but also at the end of time. Guests at this restaurant (the Milliways) can watch the end of the universe (or the gnab gib, contrary to the big bang). Another place is a lonely shack in the middle of nowhere. While the shack is not interesting, its inhabitant is no one less than the ruler of the universe. Unfortunately, he doesn’t care about the universe at all… At least, he enjoys spending time with his cat, thinking about nothing, and staring at his table. The only one who doesn’t enjoy himself at all is the depressed robot Marvin. But who would blame him. After all, he had to wait millions of years for Zaphod and the others to return…
