The school disapproved of Emily and Lucas’s decision to do nothing instead of standing up for Belinda, so they punished them. Emily and Lucas felt that they were making a difference during their punishment. Emily met a boy named Anthony and fell in love, but it led into a rough relationship and eventually they broke up.

The first thing I like about this book is that the characters are relatable. I relate to Belinda because I was bullied in fifth grade and no one came to my aid. The second thing I like about this book is that there are suspenseful moments. Like most people, I like to be on the edge of my seat wondering what is going to happen next when I read a book. The third and final thing I like about this book is that the plotline is set and stone. In my opinion, a good plotline results in a good story.

The first thing I dislike about the book is that it has “creative” language. I read some very “creative” words like the F word for example. The second thing I dislike about the book is the sad moments. I’m not too fond of these sad moments because some of them bring me some bad memories. The third and final thing I dislike about this book is that some of the conversations drag on forever. These conversations that happen in this story that drag on and on give off little to no character development.

I personally would recommend that you read “A Step Toward Falling” because it can teach you to stand up for others when they need you most. You can emotionally connect with the characters because you can easily relate to them. Some moment of this story will leave you curious, but that is up to you if you decide to read this book. If you are a younger demographic, had a traumatic experience by being attacked at school, or have a hatred for conversations that may last for a century I wouldn’t recommend this book to you. ...more "
