A technique I use is when I start a chapter and get blocked I imagine the scenery then describe those aspects. An example if a character is in a room start by describing what is in the room, where is the furniture, what color are the walls, are they immaculate, dirty, if so, where and how? The scene normally gives way to what the character/s are saying or doing.(less)

Sucsseful writer?

Recently my head hasn't left a book. I know it should be in a research book or a textbook, but after a week on the beach all I want to read is fluff books. In everyone so far the protagonist wants to have a creative job but life gets in the way. It tears down their dreams and they become a sembalance of their creative goal, but not to far off the mark.
