Mark Timmony grew up on Sydney’s Northern Beaches. He's wanted to write for as long as he can remember and has several notebooks filled with illegible scribblings from childhood to prove it.

The desire to write led to work as a bookseller in Sydney’s oldest genre specialist bookshop. There he began to make headway on his dreams of becoming a writer. Working with books he was lucky enough to meet many Australian fantasy authors – Karen Miller, Tony Shillitoe and Jennifer Fallon, to name a few – and was invited to be a beta-reader for a number of them. State of the Author

And just like that, The Pillars of the Sky (Book Two) has hit 375,000 words in the first draft. Eep!

The good news? I’ve got around five chapters left before I finally reach the end.

Of course, once I type that last sentence, the real fun begins. Edits, revisions, and probably a few rewrites are waiting in the wings. But every day brings me closer to a finished book, and that’s worth celebrating.

Mark and 13 other people liked Mark Lawrence's status update Mark Lawrence is on page 201 of 492 of The Damned King: Very good - opens with a 100 page battle in a monster-overrun town, which has lots of variety and character stuff to leven it. More of the book 2 allied character conflict - which feels totally real, groups argue, a lot. And in this book there's more resolution with a bunch of insightful/touching moments. Could be my favourite of the trilogy, and the first two were fine books.
