And it just gets worse if you put too much pressure on it.

But if you sense that you're not writing out of fear, that's a different story. You have to get out in front of that. Switch things up. Try writing at different times of the day, in different places. If you usually work on your computer, try writing longhand. Use dictation software. Change your routine. Free write in a journal until something looks up at you and says, "I might be a story."

I think a lot of writers feel they don't want to put anything on paper unless it's perfect. It's never perfect. Even after thirty years of professional writing, my first drafts suck. I rewrite over and over and over. That's the job part of it.

You won't die if you write something terrible. You don't have to show it to anybody. If you're like me, you might die if you don't write. Or you might have to spend a lot of money on therapy.

You might kill somebody else if you don't write. You'd have plenty of time to write in jail, but you'd probably rather not. (less)

I can do whatever I want in the worlds I create. And I've designed a creative world that gives me complete autonomy over every creative decision. I don't make enough money at this yet to do it full time. I have a day job. I punch a clock. I work for a boss. But even on my worst day at work, I know that Silvern Press is there waiting for me when I get home, and there are songs and stories and book covers I picked and don't have to get approval on and all sorts of things I can just pick up and play with and release when I feel they're ready. That's an amazing gift. (less)

Romae Futurum: Invaders is available in the Kindle Store!

Happy 4th of July, everybody!  If you’re looking for a fun summer read that includes a lot of fireworks, look no further.  Romae Futurum: Invaders is a fast-paced, action sci-fi thrill ride — a big summer movie in book form.  Perfect for the beach or a long flight.  I hope have as much fun reading it as I did writing it!

I could not have done it at all without the help of the stalwart Silvern Press
