Hi, Mike! I fell in love with your books, almost as if Alex and Darla truly exist within me. :) (creepy right?) This is the first book that gave me nightmares.. try running for your life with flensers chasing you. I like that you give us the truth, the true face of human nature, the part where when life gives you lemons it always squirts you in the eye and there's no water nearby to wash it off. I fell in love with your babies.. so much that I hate you sometimes for bring more trouble to their lives.. *cough* handless *cough* but I completely understand.I hope you have more upcoming books to share with us. :)
Kudos and more powers!
Hi Mike. Thanks for the friending. I love your two books, and everytime someone asks what book should I read I say Ashfall! It is not often I am reduced to a nervous wreck while reading. I had to seriously pace myself with Ashen Winter. Any thought on having them on audio? Maybe then, I could convince my husband to enjoy them too ;)
Hi Mike! I have to say i'm a huge fan of your Ashfall books! They made me think long and hard about the things I have now, and if i'd be able to survive in the world (: Can i ask a question? Why will sunrise come out next year? I need to know what happens! (:
Keenan wrote: "I'm super excited for Sunrise to come out. The first two books were amazing, and now I'm extreamly excited for Sunrise."Thanks, Keenan!
Tia wrote: "Thanks for visiting us in Bluffton. You have inspired my son to keep writing!"That's awesome! I love it when I inspire more reading and writing. Maybe he'll wind up being a novelist, but even if not, being a better reader and writer can only help in whatever he decides to achieve.
I'm super excited for Sunrise to come out. The first two books were amazing, and now I'm extreamly excited for Sunrise.

Hello Mike! I just wanted to let you know that I mentioned in Ashfall in a blog post today about a shift in the trends of YA fiction and books that deal with more gritty, real life sort of situations. Feel free to check it out and I hope it maybe introduces Ashfall to some new readers, it is a wonderful book! http://mypersonalbookclub.blogspot.co...

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed ASHFALL! I tour all over talking to students about writing and geology, and I do Skype visits for free. Drop me an email if you'd like to get me involved in your classroom somehow. It's mike.mullin.writer at gmail dot com.
Best,

Hello Mike! Thanks so much for accepting my friend request and writing such a great book! I worked in Yellowstone National Park for two summers so I was immediately drawn to the premise of this book. I did hikes there were you can see the outline of the giant caldera and watched geysers erupt that had long been dormant. Now that I teach 8th graders, I'm always looking for stories that will grab their attention and teach them about strength through adversity. This is definitely a book I'll be adding to my classroom library!
I'm glad you enjoyed ASHFALL, Brooklyn! ASHEN WINTER is at Tanglewood Press now--I'm waiting for the second round of substantive edits. As soon as copyedits are done, I'll post the first two chapters on my website.
I would love it if you would get done with Ashen Winter sooner because i can not wait any longer. Ash Fall was an Amazing book!
Tanglewood Press. They're not printed yet, but by Mayish there should be both physical and NetGalley ARCs. Here's the link: http://www.tanglewoodbooks.com/contac...
Thanks for accepting my friend request. Hypothetically, if I wanted an ARC of Ashen Winter, who should I contact?
Glad you enjoyed ASHFALL, Sarah! ASHEN WINTER is coming along well--I'm ahead of my deadlines so far!
Hello Mike, thanks for accepting my friend request. I loved Ashfall, can't wait for Ashen Winter! (=SarahS
Today I was at a local indie bookstore and was very pleased to see two copies of your book on the shelf. You're a rising star!
Jamie wrote: "October is much too far away. Sigh. :D"Sorry, Jamie. Ashen Winter is still in editing. Tanglewood and I want it to be great. There will probably be ARCs and NetGalley copies available around May.

I have been thinking about writing a book for awhile and have finally started(that's the biggest step, right?). I really hope it is something worth publishing that young adult fans will love. I have been thinking about submitting a couple pages of it to Tanglewood Press and was curious if you submitted Ashfall as a whole, or just a little tidbit. Also, if you have any publishing advice I'd love to hear it!
It's this amazing book convention where lots of authors sign, promote, and talk about their books! They also have workshops where aspiring authors can discuss the book business with other authors! Its an amazing event that I was lucky enough to go this year, but next year(2012) its in Chicago but im still gonna try and go!
Phelan wrote: "Have you thought about promoting and signing your book at the RT Book Lover's Convention?"No, I don't even know what or when that is. What is it?

So I finally got Ashfall at Barnes and Noble and am thoroughly pleased with the length of the book(I like books in the 400-600 page range). Now all I need to do is finish my essay and then I can dive right in. CANT WAIT!
Claire wrote: "I just want to let you know that I really wanted to come to the book signing tonight, but I have practice so you have another fan that just can't make it :)"Drive down to Okemos and see me tomorrow night! Or Cromaine Public Library on Thursday.
I just want to let you know that I really wanted to come to the book signing tonight, but I have practice so you have another fan that just can't make it :)
Okay, after I saw you liked the review, I noticed that my proofreading skills are less than stellar. I have since updated the review to correct some of my mistakes. Any disagreements with what I wrote in the review?
Phelan wrote: "Today I went to my local Barnes and Noble to pick up a copy of Ashfall which I have been waiting oh so patiently for since March. They did not have it! But yesterday I went to Barnes and Noble and they didn't have it. Lame. My book hasn't arrived yet though. :[
