I write character-driven epic fantasy with huge doses of horror, angst, and frustratingly tangled character relationships. You can read more about my work at my website:

K.S. Villoso was born in a dank hospital on an afternoon in Albay, Philippines, and things have generally been okay since then. After spending most of her childhood in a slum area in Taguig (where she dodged death-defying traffic, ate questionable food, and fell into open-pit sewers more often than one ought to), she and her family immigrated to Vancouver, Canada, where they spent the better part of two decades trying to chase the North American Dream. She is now living amidst the forest and mountains with her family, children, and dogs in Anmore, B

Sorry for not answering your question immediately, I have no excuse other than I don't know how to Internet properly and Goodreads didn't alert me I had a question. :P Book 2 was completed last year and is in the hands of the second to last editor, so it's just a matter of when the good folks at World Tree Publishing will be able to get it ready. I would guess it will be ready within the first half of next year, at best.

Book 3 is being written right now, with an expected completion date of late this year or early next year depending on how much Monster energy drinks I consume (and providing I don't die during the process :P). If I'm being optimistic, I can say that it'll be out by late next year. Don't quote me on that, though. :)(less)

Hi there! Sorry for not answering your question immediately, see previous answer on not knowing how to Internet properly...

I'm not sure how I got on that list other than just getting people to buy the book when it was on promotion.

Thanks for the kind comments! I've thought about it, but I could never get past the first page or so. I'm too much entrenched in the speculative fiction genre. :)(less)

“Betrayal has a funny way of turning your world upside-down. As familiar as I had already been with it by that point, it still amazed me how far I could stretch that moment of denial. The thought of what had been—of what could yet be—persisted. Perhaps it is not the same for most people. Perhaps, when you love less, it is easier not to let the emptiness become a cavern from which you could no longer see the sun.”
K.S. Villoso, The Wolf of Oren-Yaro

“Our special for today is pork bone stew,” the manager said.

“Pork bone stew sounds excellent,” I said. “Rayyel could use a spine.”

“Is heartless shrew on the menu?” Rai asked without batting an eye.”
K.S. Villoso, The Wolf of Oren-Yaro

“Time had taken those children and left behind these aging vessels, doomed to continue down the path of yesterday’s mistakes.”
K.S. Villoso, The Wolf of Oren-Yaro

“He wanted to achieve something of surpassing beauty that would last. A creation that would mean that he--the mosaic worker Caius Crispus of Varena--had been born, and lived a life, and had come to understand a portion of the nature of the world, of what ran through and beneath the deeds of women and men in their souls and in the beauty and the pain of their short living beneath the sun.”
Guy Gavriel Kay, Sailing to Sarantium

“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.”
C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves

“Friendship ... is born at the moment when one man says to another "What! You too? I thought that no one but myself . . .”
C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves

“A hard truth: that courage can be without meaning or impact, need not be rewarded, or even known. The world has not been made in that way. Perhaps, however, within the self there might come a resonance, the awareness of having done something difficult, of having done . . . something.”
Guy Gavriel Kay, The Last Light of the Sun

“A writer is a person who cares what words mean, what they say, how they say it. Writers know words are their way towards truth and freedom, and so they use them with care, with thought, with fear, with delight. By using words well they strengthen their souls. Story-tellers and poets spend their lives learning that skill and art of using words well. And their words make the souls of their readers stronger, brighter, deeper.”
Ursula K. Le Guin
