Book cover for The Name of the Wind (The Kingkiller Chronicle, #1)
You have to be a bit of a liar to tell a story the right way. Too much truth confuses the facts. Too much honesty makes you sound insincere.”
Patrick Easter
With a page count of over 600, this book looks like a commitment. Open it, though, and it is an adventure. A quest from childhood consumes the life of the main character - but what is it, really? Is he really the main character, or only the protagonist? Rothfuss, himself an established historian, takes us on an adventure far beyond the best-loved fantasies into an experience which is sure to fill the imagination, and the dreams, of his readers for many, many nights to come. The page count? I grabbed the sequel the night I finished this one, and it's twice the length! If you love adventure, Fantasy, or just a great story, this one is a must-read.

Lewis Carroll
“Alice laughed. 'There's no use trying,' she said. 'One can't believe impossible things.'

I daresay you haven't had much practice,' said the Queen. 'When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast. There goes the shawl again!”
Lewis Carroll

Robert M. Pirsig
“What’s new?” is an interesting and broadening eternal question, but one which, if pursued exclusively, results only in an endless parade of trivia and fashion, the silt of tomorrow. I would like, instead, to be concerned with the question “What is best?,”
Robert M. Pirsig, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance

J.R.R. Tolkien
“Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement.”
J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

“Be the Helper of my soul, O God, for I walk among many snares. Deliver me from them, O Good One, and save me, for Thou lovest mankind.”
Anonymous

Lao Tzu
“The ancients were subtle, mysterious, profound, responsive. The depth of their knowledge is unfathomable. Because it is unfathomable,”
Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching
