"I love when classic lit references other works of classic lit within them. Voltaire just name dropped Cicero and Homer, with one character saying that some of the Odyssey was a masterpiece, but the rest, completely boring. The same character also said he didn’t like Cicero because Cicero questioned everything (he was a skeptic) and that if he was going to live in ignorance, he didn’t need Cicero’s help haha" — Mar 09, 2026 06:55PM

"Chapter 3 Update: Aquinas opens in illustrating that this summary is especially directed to the unlearned, and that the 3 keys of the this text are faith, love, and hope. He the lays his case to prove the existence of god, especially on the premise that any ball in motion had to be pushed by *someone/something*. He believes in relation to the beginning of the world/universe, that someone is god" — Feb 27, 2026 08:20PM

“You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may tread me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.
Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
'Cause I walk like I've got oil wells
Pumping in my living room.
Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I'll rise.
Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops.
Weakened by my soulful cries.
Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don't you take it awful hard
'Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines
Diggin' in my own back yard.
You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I'll rise.”
