Roger Mourad, Jr., PhD, JD, spent many years working as an attorney and higher education researcher. After authoring many papers in leading academic journals, he decided to channel his expertise into a much more logical pursuit: absurdist fiction and political satire.

His latest book, Jefferson and Hamilton Try to Save America with Rick and Lew, is the first in a hilarious new series. The sequel, Jefferson and Hamilton Try to Rescue the President, is releasing later this year.

Roger is also the author of the novel Road Trip to the Future.

When he’s not writing, reading, or plotting the next step of the series, Roger can be found fly fishing, playing in the dirt with native plants, breeding tropical fish, or playing his guitars.

Satire allows me to use everything I know about the serious stuff, but look at it through a surreal, comedic lens. Plus, dropping two buttoned-up Founding Fathers into the 21st century with guys like Rick and Lew is just flat-out fun to write.(less)

Welcome! Yes, a PhD/JD can write absurdist satire.

Hello, readers!

Welcome to my official Goodreads author page. If you took a look at my bio, you might notice a lot of letters after my name—PhD, JD, and a history of writing serious papers for international academic journals of social and political thought.

But after spending years analyzing the complex machinery of higher education and law, I came to a very logical conclusion: the best way to make Read more of this blog post »

“We live in a two-tiered legal system, one where poor people are harassed, arrested, and jailed for absurd infractions, such as selling loose cigarettes—which led to Eric Garner being choked to death by the New York City police in 2014—while crimes of appalling magnitude by the oligarchs and corporations, from oil spills to bank fraud in the hundreds of billions of dollars, which wiped out 40 percent of the world’s wealth,41 are dealt with through tepid administrative controls, symbolic fines, and civil enforcement that give these wealthy perpetrators immunity from criminal prosecution.”

“As it turns out, there is a utility in keeping us divided. As people, the more separate we are, the more politically impotent we become.”
