Before ever being a writer, Miana was already a passionate reader. In love with stories and chocolate, fascinated by life and unsolved mysteries, she was found by lonely stories that demanded to be told. In the time spent among studies, travels, and navigating early adulthood, she plays at being a writer.

She published her first book, O Jogo, at 13. Since then, she has promised to never - ever - stop writing. Honoring the compromise that is telling stories, her writing (a work in progress) has developed along the years, across the journey of practice. Although she mostly writes in her mother tongue (Portuguese) and still has a lot to learn, she will publish her most ambitious project (this time, simultaneously in English!) in 2025.

I have had it in my shelf for so long, but I am aware it will take time and dedication to enjoy it properly, so I have been saving it for the holidays. I would also like to pick up some new romances - one of them being Emily Henry's Happy Place - and re-read the Shatter Me series, including some new volumes I haven't read yet.(less)

‘After the Fireworks’ flew by for me, being a surprisingly easy and fast read. Even though it approaches heavier topics, like toxic relationships, it does so with extreme caution and in a realistic way. I was quite captivated by the charact

This one felt like a mix of whimsy/acotar/tangled/shadow and bone/other fantasy books and films I absolutely adore. Still, it had its own personality and a worldbuilding I loved (based on a love story, which was so creative and fun).

I think this might be my favourite Elsie Silver book yet!

Usually I don’t adore the miscommunication trope. Yet these characters and their growth really made me fall in love with the story.

“Se o amor tivesse cor, seria o tom de azul dos olhos dele.”
Mariana Fernandes, Reação em Cadeia

“As minhas escolhas e a minha vida passaram

“He would not rest until his country could too.
And he would never turn his back on a wounded man - even if that man was him.
'Nikolai Nothing', snarled the demon. 'Ravka will never be yours'.
Perhaps not. But if you loved a thing, the work was never done. 'Remember who you are'.”
Leigh Bardugo, King of Scars

“It was the first time I'd said ‘survival’ aloud. Sam had survived. He’d survived, and I’d survived, too. Now we would survive together.”
Julia Drake, The Last True Poets of the Sea

“I almost forget that she still hates me, despite how hard I’ve fallen for her.
And I’ve fallen.
So hard.
I’ve hit the ground. Gone right through it. Never in my life have I felt this. Nothing like this. I’ve felt shame and cowardice, weakness and strength. I’ve known terror and indifference, self-hate and general disgust. I’ve seen things that cannot be unseen.
And yet I’ve known nothing like this terrible, horrible, paralyzing feeling. I feel crippled. Desperate and out of control. And it keeps getting worse. Every day I feel sick. Empty and somehow aching.
Love is a heartless bastard.
I’m driving myself insane.”
Tahereh Mafi, Destroy Me

“My eyes are filling fast with tears and I blink and blink but the world is a mess and I want to laugh because all I can think is how horrible and beautiful it is, that our eyes blur the truth when we can’t bear to see it.”
Tahereh Mafi, Ignite Me

“There’s a strange kind of freedom in the dark; a terrifying vulnerability we allow ourselves at exactly the wrong moment, tricked by the darkness into thinking it will keep our secrets. We forget that the blackness is not a blanket; we forget that the sun will soon rise. But in the moment, at least, we feel brave enough to say things we’d never say in the light.”
Tahereh Mafi, Ignite Me
