The first book that came to mind, because when I was reading it i felt the environment very deeply in my body, and I felt pulled to walk the shores and listen to the water in warm wet air. . Marguerite Duras's novel called "The Sea Wall." The subtlety of the story's meaning really resonated with me, and it's something I write alot about in Skinless. Learning to listen to nature, the water, to find anwers, healing. So often we push and try to fix or make things happen the way we want or we think they should, but we are always shown by nature that it is more powerful than any human will, in physical and in how life unfolds. We can't choose all of our circumstances or what happens step by step. We have to listen, trust, open, and find ways to grow within during the experience called life. I spent a lot of time on the beach as a teenager on my own out in the world, and the water helped me heal what I was carrying. Charmay talks about this in Skinless.
To answer your question: I'd like to go to walk the water in French Indochine and listen to the wind and water, on the falling dam at low tide, listening for the note that holds between resistance and release. (less)
