I like playing with words, but this isn't always a good thing. In my youth, I wrote snarky poems and biting rants, but rarely anything profound like the authors I admired.

As a young adult, I served as a soldier, a medic, and then a bartender, all of which broadened my perspective. Sometimes, I dabbled with prose but with no serious intent. In 2003, I returned to school and ultimately obtained an Advertising degree. At The University of Texas, I saw that, by nature, I view communication as a philosopher, always questioning goals, motives, strategies, tactics, and how media affects society.

In 2006, I kicked off my career at Coremetrics (IBM) in the then-unproven field of web analytics. Perhaps no other role could have broadened my perspective I like playing with words, but this isn't always a good thing. Perhaps no other role could have broadened my perspective more on the various marketing and PR initiatives clients utilize to interact with their audiences. Having specialized in Media Planning, I naturally saw analytics as the future hub for marketing ecosystems and the importance of integration protocols.

Throughout my career, I've specialized in several online disciplines: analytics, paid search, product feeds, display, and social. Still, I've always understood that these channels, like the elements of a composition, are constantly evolving, can be used naively or with sophistication, and are just components of more holistic communication goals.

Relatively recently, I returned to playing with words, but this time, with more life experience and a broader perspective. Now, having lived in several countries and worked as a communication professional through the most significant paradigm shift for media and society, I've created something compelling to share: The Chameleon.

The Chameleon series is my contribution to Media Literacy. It's a work of fiction that deliberately examines real media topics for reflection. Philosophically, it explores the social responsibilities and dilemmas of free speech. And, like the modern media platforms we all use to express ourselves, it realistically reflects the best and worst of us. It's my attempt to meld my passion and creativity with purpose so that future generations can freely express their ideas as they mature, with words or otherwise.

Vagary Enterprises is the small consultancy (side hustle) I founded in 2010 to help SMB entities leverage appropriate media options for their marketing communication goals.
