This was my great-uncle. He was essentially my grandfather because I saw him all the time. He lived in Ada, my maternal grandfather was dead, and my paternal grandfather (his brother) was 1,000 miles away. He had incredible stories. He was the first B-17 pilot to complete 25 missions over Nazi-occupied France. The Memphis Belle was the first "plane," as my uncle did it in two planes because his first had to be salvaged.
