A native of the Jersey Shore, I grew up dreaming about becoming a star baseball player. Later, when I realized that I'd never become the next Mickey Mantle or Willie Mays, I knew it was time to think about something more realistic. So, instead, I went to Washington & Lee University in Virginia, majored in Economics and became a banker. I started out in Newark, NJ in 1976 (the setting for my first novel) and after 5 years there, I moved to Citibank where I spent the next 36 years before retiring in 2016.

My debut novel, "Bank Street", is based on my early experiences as a bank management trainee during the late 1970s. Many of the characters are a composite of people I worked with over the years. The sequel to "Bank Street", entitled "Flanaga

The inspiration for the story came from my granddaughter, who was read a book titled "Matt's Mitt" by her father, Matthew. I read that same book to Matthew when he was a child. It was published in 1976 by the late Marilyn Sachs (a wonderful children's author). Sadly. "Matt's Mitt" is no longer in print.

Knowing her grandfather was a writer, Cora instantly figured her Pops could write a book for her about baseball. So, the lesson to be learned is "be careful what you promise a four year old". I am hoping to have the book, titled "Cora's Magical Pink Mitt" self-published by her sixth birthday in November 2022. My illustrator is a talented young artist, Maggie Jelly, who is currently majoring in Fine Arts at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. We'll see how it turns out.(less)
