Jay Manning | 4 comments I read this book back around 2005 or 2006. There was a group of friends(kids) who found mysterious shop and bought a game there. Once they left the store disappeared. Upon playing the game they got sucked into it. They had to collect some sort of amulet pieces to keep a villain from fulfilling a prophecy and becoming a creature that could have power over all. It was an rpg type game and as they progressed they went up stairs or something. Players could only learn four spells at a time and spells were one use only. It was a sort of humorous book that didn't take itself to seriously.

There was a twist based on how the prophecy regarding the amulet was worded which wasn't revealed till the end but I'll only say what it was if there is too much difficulty finding the book.

Rebecca--you can post spoilers that are "hidden" for people to check. This is kind of a generic summary, and I can think of several books that it might be. So something a little more "Specialized" to that book would probably be helpful. To hide the spoilers you can check out (Some HTML is ok) for directions on how to enter it.

Thanks for telling me how to do that! I'm not really sure how to be more specific. It's been a while so I don't really remember more details. There is one other thing i do remember that stood out a bit. (To me anyways)

From your spoilers I can rule out the 2 books that I thought it might be. It really does sound interesting and I'm hoping someone comes up with the title as I think I'd like to read it myself

Jay Manning | 4 comments Well after searching and searching I finally found it! the book is The Amulet of Komondor by Adam Osterweil. I don't know if I'll like it as much as I did back in middle school but it should still be a fun read. :) Thanks to anyone who tried to help!
