After the End

By the way, I'm with the folks who loved this book. Picked it up and finished it in eight straight hours (actually seven straight, a few hours sleep, and then another hour for the last 30-40 pages). I really felt like I was living in that family. And so, my question is really a poll. What do you think happens to Judd after the end. Does he go back to Jen, run into Penny's arms, or find a new life in Maine? I was rooting for him to run into Penny's arms, but, from the title, plus the advice given to him by his sister, and the general drift of the last few pages, I get the feeling he's going to stay in Maine a while and try to put together a new life. Still rooting for him to get back together with Penny, though.

The best book I've read in a long time. I think Judd takes a week or two off from everything, then decides it's time to forgive Jen and become a family man.

I know that losing a child causes tremendous amounts of guilt and finger pointing, so it made sense that J & J pulled apart and were together yet apart. I'm rooting for THIS child to help repair what's lost.

He clearly goes back to Jen after Maine. Shortly thereafter, we find out Alice is pregnant with his baby as is Penny and some random woman he met and did the deed with in Maine. I was a fan of neither the book nor the character of Judd, the one good trait he seemed to have was his care for the niece and nephews. Oh, and Linda's son. And Linda.

I loved this book.

As far as the title suggesting that he leaves Jen (either for Penny or a new life) IDK but I took it as he left his old self and moved on with life (either to Jen and their child or to just live life and see where it takes him)

Just my 2 cents :)

I think he goes to Maine, regroups and comes back for Penny. This book was so funny I laughed out loud. I laughed on my lunch break, my coworkers had to check on me in the breakroom. I laughed at midnight, waking up my husband and children. I can NOT wait to see the movie this month (Sept) and I think Jason and Tina are cast perfectly....

loved this then proceeded to read every other Tropper book apart from the first one, book of joe was awesome

I'm not sure he could ever bring himself to get back with Jen, but I also don't see him giving up the chance to be a father. My guess is that he'd get back on his feet again nearby so he can be part of the baby's life and someday forgive Jen... and himself.

I loved this book! I think Judd eventually went back to Jen. This story made me laugh so many times! I really enjoyed it, but I hated the ending. I wanted a more decisive one with some sort of closure if there isn't going to be a sequel. Despite that, I look forward to the movie next year.

I almost fell out of bed laughing while reading this novel. Figured my book club would enjoy it, which they did not. Guess they didn't get it, thought it was far-fetched,I think. Too bad didn't generate the discussion I was anticipating. I still recommend it to others.

This book was very funny, Jonathan is one master storyteller. I think that he will go back to Jen, despite her infidelity, I don't think he will ever stop loving her.

Makes me wish I had Cinemax because Tropper's first TV show premieres Friday. It's called "Banshee." And the movie version of this book - based on his screenplay - is in pre-production. And he wrote the screenplay for the remake of "Harvey." Please don't abandon novels, Mr. Tropper!

I think he'll stay in Maine for a bit anyway.. I didn't care for Penny, she seemed too available, it was too easy for him to slip back into her life...he needs to find himself before he gets involved w/ anyone else.

This family was sooooo much like mine, I bought my parents and my brother their own copies!! Such a wonderful book. My personal hope for Judd is he'd start fresh, rather than go back to Jen or start an old relationship that had its time.

I thought this book was hilarious. I too read it in one day. I think Judd goes to Maine to get his act together but I think he eventually goes back to Jen.

I'm only halfway through this book right now but so far it's easily the funniest novel I have read in at least 30 years.

I also loved this book. It kept making me laugh out loud. I was initially rooting for Penny too...but at the end I hoped that he got his life together before he starts another serious relationship.
