Angela Cardillo (anginwonderland) | 2 comments Hi, I'm Angela. I have been obsessed with fantasy since I was a child. I've recently had the time to start reading again and have come to love UF and PNR. I started with Charlaine Harris' Sookie books and went to Patricia Brigg's Mercy Thompson series. I just started her Alpha and Omega series. I think I love anything Patrcia Briggs writes!

I've written a list of books to read which include many of the books discussed on this thread and would be happy to add to it. I tend to pick an author and ready all of his/her books. I love anything with a good strong female lead and lots of supes.

Trish (sugarbones) | 3 comments Hi. My name is Trish. I started reading again a couple of years ago when a few moms from my online mommy group started chatting about authors such as Laurell K. Hamilton and Stephenie Meyer. Now I'm addicted to vampires, werewolves, witches, wizards, demons, and all those things that go bump in the night or fight with a sword.

Hi, my name is Nichole....I have been an avid reader all of my life and started reading even more last year after I got my kindle. While I read a bit of everything, I got hooked on PNR/Urban Fantasy after reading the Southern Vampire Chronicles. My favorites are:
Jeaniene Frost
Ilona Andrews
Patricia Brigg's (Alpha & Omega Series...have not started the Mercy Thompson series yet).
Charlaine Harris
Karene Marie Moning
Shelly Laurenston
Kerrelyn Sparks

And I am always looking for new authors/series to read ;-)

message 258: by Shannon (last edited Feb 13, 2010 07:38AM) (new)

Shannon C. Hi, my name is Shannon & I'm a new group member. Just wanted to introduce myself! I love to read. A big fan of fiction, I've read lots of genres like mystery & suspense, fantasy, action & adventure, romance and historical. Most recently I've been on an urban fantasy and paranormal romance kick, reading about vampires, shapeshifters and other things that go bump in the night.

I love to find new books and share ideas with friends. I'm pretty active on the Amazon forums, so you might have seen me on there. If you want to see some of my Amazon reviews or lists of paranormal romance/urban fantasy recommendations, here's a link to my amazon profile:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/pdp/profile/...

I've done a list of abou 40 paranormal romance/urban fantasy must reads as well as lists of shapeshifter romances, romances focused on the Fae and humorous paranormal romance.

message 260: by Aleis (new)

Aleis (amaxim) Hi my name is Aleis (for the curious ones out there it's pronounced ah-lease). I have been an avid reader probably from the time I first learned how to read. My first love was all things fantasy, and I still read the occasional fantasy book. However, after being introduced to Laurell K. Hamilton by a friend I have snatched up almost anything that seemed similar. I have started getting into some of the pnr books, but am not a huge romance fan so if't it's too over-the-top I probably won't finish the book. I truly love books which probably makes it hard for me to be objective when reviewing them. I fall in love with the characters and feel like they are my friends. I truly feel sad when I finish a book and have to wait for the next one to come out in six months to a year.

Some of my favorites are Laurell K Hamilton, Kim Harrison, Karen Chance, Yasmine Galenorn, Ilona Andrews, Jim Butcher... could probaly go on for quite a while. I love finding new authors and am always up for giving a first book a shot. Some great new ones I've found recently are M. L. N. Hanover, Jocelynn Drake, Diana Rowland, Seanan McGuire, Jaye Wells, Jes Battis, Jennifer Rardin (okay so she's not so new, but still good).

Unfortunately I've been getting a little behind on my reading (keep finding books to read from the library rather than reading the new ones I've bought). I'm also running out room for my growing library because I love to reread my favorites and have a hard time giving my books up. I'm always willing to loan them out to friends though. Okay, sorry I went on so long. I'm so glad I found this site and this group. :-)

Hi, my name is Kate and I've loved PR for who knows how long. My obsession with the Paranormal began when my parents took me to see Interview With The Vampire when it came out in theatres. I've read Anne Rice, Laurell K. Hamilton, Jeaniene Frost, Tanya Huff, Richelle Mead, Kelley Armstrong, Kim Harrison, Charlaine Harris and Keri Arthur. I'm always looking for new authors and book suggestions :D

message 276: by S (new)

S Hi, I'm Sierra and I just joined this group today! Like everyone here I love to read. I joined the site to track my reads and thought maybe I could also socialize myself with people of the same interests. Maybe I could slowly pull myself out of my social awkwardness, I've only succeeded in further engrossing myself in books. My preference is UF and PNR.

I look forward to participating in this group as much as possible.

message 278: by Kenna (new)

Kenna (kennas) Hi, Im kenna. I make a horrible first impression but I tend to grow on you. I will say right now that I am terribly sorry for what you are more than likely going to think of me right off the bat.

I try to read anything that I can get my hands on. I love a great vampire story, paranormal, ghost, and just anything else in the relm of fantasy. I can read a standard book, 400 or so pages in abotu 10 hours. My husband is going broke trying to keep me in books.

I hate when I find a great author that I like, find out that he or she has written an entire series based on the first book that I read, I read all of the available books and find out that I have to wait for another book to finish the series. I am an imatient woman and I want instant satisfaction. In other words, I like to have everything resolved when I finish reading and not have to wait an entire year to see whats going to happen next.

I am obnoxious and opinionated and a lot of fun at party after one or two drinks..but I cant get drunk so no luck there.

I have 8 1/2 year old twin boys and a dog and a cat. Ive been with my DH for 12 years and he watches True Blood with me.

And I am very excited to be a member.

message 279: by Jess (new)

Jess | 3721 comments Welcome to the group Kenna! And I have to say, you didn't make a bad first impression. So don't worry about it. Jump in wherever you want, I'm sure everything will be fine.

message 280: by Andrea (new)

Andrea (andrea414) | 1 comments Hi, I'm Andrea. I'm actually a lot like Kenna. My husband says that I don't read books, I inhale them. It's true. I've got 2 kids, 8 and 5, and there are times that I beg them to watch tv so I can get in another chapter (not going to win any parenting awards, but heck, didn't think that was going to happen anyway).

I'll read almost any fiction if it's got a good review. I've been a long-time reader of mystery, but recently got into the urban fantasy genre when I read the Sookie Stackhouse series (which I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED - can't wait for May!). My husband is a big fantasy fan, so he thinks it's cool, although he teases me a lot about my crush on Eric and obsession with vampire sex (just in books, of course).

I read Twilight, but wasn't hooked and didn't read further. Also, got sick of Anita Blake after book three. Now I have started reading the Mercy Thompson series, and am loving it. Mercy Thompson is a fabulous character. I am very driven by reading good characters, which is why I didn't like Anita Blake. Too much telling us she was tough, when she just loads herself up with weapons and some messed up morality.

Don't know why it took me so long to get to Urban Fantasy, I've been an original watcher of Buffy and have all the DVDs. That show was brilliant.

Okay, I have rambled too long, and my son's show is now over.

Ciao.

message 282: by ~Vixhen~ (new)

~Vixhen~ (vixhen) Hey:

I'm Chichimo. I am a total BDB fanatic and can't wait for the next in the Demonica series. I've always been into this genre (via movies and t.v.), just didn't realize that there were so many books out there. I actually just started reading about 6 months ago and am completely, utterly hooked. Whenever I try to start another genre (used to be all about murder mystery), I start to miss my PNR.

message 283: by Jess (new)

Jess | 3721 comments Hi Chichimo, welcome to the group! I also always come back to PNR after reading other genres. There's just something about it that always reels me back.

Lauren⁷ 💜 (lrc123) | 4 comments Hi all.

I'm Lauren and i'm 17. I got introduced to PNR this past summer via an excerpt of Lover Avenged in Cosmo, i read the excerpt, thought it sounded good, checked it out of the library and the rest as they say is history. Now i can't get enough of PNR. Some of my most favorite PNR authors include J.R. Ward, Lara Adrian, Sherrilyn Kenyon and Stephanie Meyer. In addition to PNR, i read nearly everything else, YA, popular fiction, spy novels, et al. I accept almost all friend requests, so if you want to be friends just send a request my way.

message 299: by Gaijinmama (new)

Gaijinmama | 5 comments Hi, I've been a member for awhile, thanks for letting me lurk!
I decided the Lurkers' Lounge was getting a little dull so I thought I'd stick my head out and wave at you all.
I've been a fantasy/ S.F. geek my whole life...used to play Dungeons and Dragons back when you actually had to go to someone's house, order a pizza and play sitting around the table, face to face. I've always loved Anne Rice but have only discovered other vampire stories and the whole paranormal genre fairly recently. I have both of your current BoTM's on my shelves so I think I'll fit in just fine. Thanks for enabling my addiction.

message 300: by Marlene (new)

Marlene Slade (marlenekslade) | 4 comments My name is Marlene K. Slade. I am a fiction writer. I have been writing fictional stories and poetry for over fifteen years. I have several completed projects awaiting future publication. Music Box Danseur is the first novel I published. I am currently working on the prequel to Music Box Danseur and a separate book project. My next novel is scheduled to be released in 2010. I am also a huge fan of books. I love fiction and I wish that I had time to read more creative projects from other artists, but writing takes up most of my time. My all-time favorite authors are Anne Rice and Elizabeth Peters, but I love many other fiction writers. Goodreads is a fantastic site. I am looking forward to finding many other great novels I have not yet read.
