Jaime Rush (jaime_rush) | 126 comments Hello! I just found Goodreads. What a fun place! I am both a reader and an author. I've written 18 books as Tina Wainscott and am now writing the Offspring series for Avon Books under Jaime Rush (think X-Files meets Lost). I don't want to come off as a promo sl*t here so if you want to know more, feel free to check out my brand new author page. I love hanging out with readers and seeing what people like and don't like.

I'm reading the Traveler by John Twelve Hawks right now, and Patricia Briggs' Blood Bound is on deck. She's new to me. I just read Twilight 'cuz I thought I should, LOL. I also love Terri Garey, Jeaniene Frost, Linnea Sinclair (sci-fi romance) and Kay Hooper.

Cheers!

Kelley Anne | 1619 comments Welcome to the group all of the new people! Sorry it took me so long to welcome you all! I've been a bit out of touch with the group for the last week or so. But it sounds like we've got some great new people in the group. Hope you enjoy our discussions!

message 157: by Laura Lulu (new)

Laura Lulu (lauralulu) Hi, I'm Laura & I'm a bookaholic. I've always been a big reader, but (like a few others on here) got addicted to the PNR/UFs when TrueBlood started & I read all the Sookies--I then found goodreads and the rest is history. I also like reading regular fantasy-George RR Martin, Anne Bishop, etc. I am in LOVE with this site and can spend hours browsing & adding to my ever growing TBR list.

I haven't read Patricia Briggs or Jeaniene Frost, but they are next on my list. I am reading Richelle Mead's Storm Born right now (loved Vampire Academy, Succubus series is just ok for me) but I just finished the 3rd book of Ilona Andrews' Kate Daniels Series and LOVED them, find myself thinking about the characters even after starting another book, which is always a sign of an awesome book. Can not wait for the next one.

message 158: by Angi (new)

Angi Hi All.

My name is Angi and I've loved the "dark side" since I was a little girl. Always ghosts, fairies, vamps, shifters, etc. I read other stuff as well, but UF and also PNR, is my fav! :)

SO true. I haven't read the books Steph, but the few episodes that I watched of the series were AWFUL!

message 161: by Kelley Anne (new)

Kelley Anne | 1619 comments Angi - are you talking about the Harry Dresden books? I never saw the show, and from what I've heard, that's a good thing! I've read the first 2 books though. Loved them both and am looking forward to reading the rest of the series. You should give them a shot!

I agree with you completely! The last book I forced myself to finish was Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane. I truly HATED that book and I promised myself then that I would never do that again, regardless of who the author was!

message 164: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments I hear you there. I had to force myself to read Pride & Predudice & Zombies because I agreed to do a mini read with some people. I forced myself to read 30 pages a day and still had to break it down by 10 pages at a time. I was such a chore to pick up the book. Just not what I want to do. I also think that if you force yourself it colors what you think about the story too!!

Up until I found Patricia Brigs, and then Karen Chance I read pretty much fantasy and romance. I love PNR and UF now. My favorite arthurs would have to be Karen Chance followed by Patricia Briggs, Kresley Cole, Sherrilyn Kenyon, and Jeaniene Frost. Lol the list goes on and on but you get the general idea. I was on the website of one of the authors i read and someone mentioned this sight. I wish I could thnk them... I love this site.

message 171: by Mariah (new)

Mariah | 21 comments Hey Im Mariah, I usually only read PNR series, but I also do regular fantasy stuff. I do read individual books but series are soo much better. I've read the Women of the Otherworld Series, Twilight, and many others...Currently reading The Runelords Series by David Farland (kinda boring) Currently waiting on the Shifter Series By Rachel Vincent.

message 172: by Deanna (new)

Deanna | 1 comments Hello I am Deanna, I love to read everything. PNR is the one that I hold in highest regard, it is so easy to lose one’s self in the stories and characters. I do not have a favorite author or book. I find that I am drawn to books that fit my current mood, and do not stop until the book has ended and the mood has passed.

message 173: by Jenni (new)

Jenni J. (jsjacobs44) | 4 comments Hi, I'm Jenni and I'm a proud bibliophile, (or lover of books) I love PNR's but also like a bit of contemps to even things out. My first introduction to PNR's was with Laurell K. Hamilton (even though some don't see those as romance's ehh....whatever!) But ever since then I've gobbled up every PNR i could get my hands on! It's great to find a place where others like me (book freaks!) can talk about books without being looked at weird...(it happens all the time when I try to talk about PNR's with my parents or friends :( !)

message 174: by Whiteraven (new)

Whiteraven | 2 comments Hey all, I am SaraBeth aka White Raven, lol. I live for reading and hoping as soon as school slows down a little I will be able to catch up with my poor reading list which is so long even a computer wont hold it anymore, hehehe. I read a bit of everything but paranormal anything is the best! I work in a small town bookstore and am hoping to go to school for creative writing after I am done with my business degree. I already have my massage therapy, one always should have a day job, *grins and giggles*! I will bounce in when school permits, nice to meet everyone!

message 178: by Ellen (new)

Ellen (ellenpenleysmith) Well, I figured that I may as well add myself here because I have not done one yet. (Even though, I have probably spoken to many of you in this group, Lol)

My name is Ellen. I love reading practially anything -as long as it is good- but I do love my PNR and UF. I'm aussie, and before you ask: No, I do not say G'day. =D

Lol. Happy readings everybody! I feel like my duty to the introuduce yourself fourm is complete!

FYI: If I sound a little tad bit crazy, you will probably find that that will happen in the future. Lol. Just a pre-warning.

I'm Aussie too, from Melbourne, and I don't say G'day either!

message 180: by Jess (new)

Jess | 3721 comments Hi Ellen!

That's so funny you should both mention that. I work in an elementary school and I stopped at a bulletin board the other day that had a poster from all over the world with different ways of people saying hello. And under the person from Australia it said G'day!

Maybe I should go correct that poster!! lol.

Rebecca (Bec) | 56 comments lol Jess

Some people do, but.. the majority of people I talk to simply say 'Hi' or 'hey' every now and then a G'day comes out but it's rare. I don't speek for everyone though!

message 182: by Cherell (new)

Cherell | 1 comments Hi I am Cherell
I got addicted to PNR when I red the "Twilight Saga". I read this series in about a 2 week span. When I was done I wanted more of course but I wanted more of an adult version. I have become obsessed with shape shifters, werewolves, dhampires, succubus's and of course our wonderful and glorious Vampires. For crying out loud I had my friend who is a dentist make me real vampire fangs for Halloween! Is it a ridiculous obsession? I think not! PNR is great for anyone looking for adventure and love! I am glad to be part of this group and hope to get some great recommendations from this site.

Have fun and may the Paranormal World take your mind where it really wants to go!!

The only time I would say G'Day would be when I talk to older people around where I live.
(I live out rural NT, so if that serves as an explanation) Or if we are mucking around.

message 185: by Morgan (new)

Morgan (morgandickson) Hi, I'm Morgan. I got addicted to urban fantasy & paranormal romance genre when I started reading Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunters. This group looks great! I probably won't be able to keep up with the BOM but what a great venue for me to find new authors that I haven't tried yet. Looking forward to the updates.

message 186: by Archer (new)

Archer Hi, my name is Jenn. And I am a bookaholic, it all started one day when a friend recommended Jim Butcher to me. Something that started from one book, one author has turned into a full blown addiction spanning the PNR and Urban Fantasy genre's..

message 189: by Jamie (new)

Jamie Good evening all! My name is Jamie and I'm a book binger. I've been cramming all kinds of PNR books lately but I like to read anything that catches my intrest. I'm a huge Tony Hillerman fan first (navajo cop mystery) but, and I hate admitting this, I've been into the paranormal since I finally hunkered down over the spring and finally read Twilight. Those books opened a whole new door to me and I'm at my library every week picking up 3 new books. My favorite author is MaryJanice Davidson, only because I enjoy a good laugh. I've just finshed the 2nd Anita Blake book, starting the 7th Undead book, and the 2nd Gorgeous book.(I told you I'm just cramming the books in!) I also do books on CD so I can listen in the car to and from work, and right now I'm starting one of the Carpathian books, Dark Demon (I'm not doing these in order like I would others) So I'm glad to be here and can't wait to dive into the discussions!!

✨Read_Rates✨ (missxtine) Hi everyone. I am Xtine. I am a big reader and tend to always lean towards fantasy/romance/mystery/vamps/wolfs/etc. I also love to read a whole series. I normally wont start another book until I can read all of the books that are out for the series. These past two months I have been on a Sookie/Lily Bard/Aurora Tegarden books. I read all of the books starting in OCT. I am on the 5th book in the aurora series. After that I am going to read Harper. Then I probably will go and read a vampire series or fairy tale series.
