I actually liked the Aurora Teagarden series, although it is just mystery, and I liked the Harper Connelly as well. I'm starting to dive into the Lily Bard, and I love that just as much as Sookie!

Kaz. Well I'm going to start on the Lly Bard next then :-) thanks Shannon.

Amanda Orlich Ahern (kittymeowxcore) | 65 comments Hello, my name is Amanda. I started reading with Jude Deveraux, and found "A Knight in Shining Armor" somewhat paranormal-y. From there, I started reading Madeline Hunter (so not paranormal), Karen Marie Moning, Stephenie Meyers, J.R. Ward, Lynn Viehl, and Sherrilyn Kenyon (as of late).

I'm always interested in books by authors similar to these listed above. Anything vampires is good :)

I've just started reading J.R. Ward based on the many good things I've read about her, and so far I have to agree with most members that she rocks! :-)

Samantha Mullins (hixxup79) Hi I am Samantha I love PNR I haven't picked up a book since like 2002-2003 to read leisurely, until I read Twilight back in May 2009....I was hooked into reading again I finished the twilight saga, then I moved onto the Vampire Mystery Novels also known as the Sookie Stackhouse Novels. That then lead to otehrs such as Blue Bloods, Vampire academy, house of night, black dagger brotherhood, the mortal instruments. I am hooked and I can't get enough.

message 124: by Elvia (new)

Elvia (elvb) Hi, I'm new to this group. I'm an avid reader of UF with Jim Butcher being my favorite author. I have many coming up right behind him.
I've been reading Paranormal books since at least 2002 when I found out James Marsters narrated Storm Front. I couldn't afford that so I bought the book instead and was HOOKED.

I'm a married mother of three kids who tend to get neglected when I'm in the middle of a good book (even my husband). I read about 3 books every week although I've cut back to about 2 recently with fall tv starting. lol I know...I'm sad. :)

Vivi Welcome Elvia!

message 126: by Donna (last edited Sep 24, 2009 03:56PM) (new)

Donna Hi! I'm mostly a fantasy reader but in the past few years got completely sucked into UF. I prefer UF with a side of good romance, but will read the occasional well written PNR.
I've read a good number of series but my current favorite authors are Jim Butcher, Patricia Briggs, and Rob Thurman.
Though I'm still following Karen Chance, Carrie Vaughn, Charlaine Harris, Vicki Pettersson, Simon R. Green and Kim Harrison as well. I'm also always up for suggestions.

message 129: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly Holiday (kimberlyfour) | 2 comments Hi My name is Kim and I read many different genres. For the last year and a half I have been into PNR.

Some of the favorite PN authors are Kim Harrison, Karen Chance, Ilona Andrews, Patricia Briggs, and Jeanne Frost. I read fast and like to start a series and then read all of it's books before moving on. I just finished the Karen Chance novels- and am sad that I have now read them all and have to wait. I really need to read slower to make them last! There are a few of her short stories that I still need to hunt down.

Way back when I was really into Ann Rice and Interview with the Vampire is still my favorite vamp novel. I also like Historical fiction and really like the Outlander series in how it combines fantasy and history.

Becky, check out Karen Chance's series with Cassandra Palmer or Kim Harrison's "Hallows" series.

message 131: by Tonya (new)

Tonya Hi my name is Tonya and have recently become addicted to PNR thanks to my BFF making me read Twilight. It's gotten to the point I really havent' read anything else (except a couple). I love this genre! I have read all of the Sookie books, almost done with the BDB series. I love Jeaniene Frost and am finding new authors everyday and my TBR pile is huge!!!

Kelleigh (goodreadscomsunshine2047) | 0 comments Hello new group :)

I'm Kelleigh (pronounced just like kelly) I love nothing more than getting caught up in an amazing read! I adore PNR and a few of my favorite authors would include Karen Marie Moning, Jeaniene Frost, Kim Harrison and Charlaine Harris. I am currently reading the Highlander series by Karen Marie Moning and I just finished her Fever series - Amazing I might add. I love finding new series to read, so if you have any recommendations, please let me know!
:)

message 134: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi My name is Jinnifer and I love PNR and urban fantasy. I am not at all into any other romance novels. I love all the fantasy stuff, it takes me out of a blah world and into something that we can only imagine. I love Twilight, Sooke Stackhouse, The Mortal Instruments, Mercy Thompson series and the Kate Daniels series. I dont mind reading the YA or JF's either. I am new on to goodreads so i don't know all the ropes about setting up post and groups yet so it might take me a while to get acquainted with it all.

message 135: by Brittnee (new)

Brittnee | 2 comments Hello everyone!

My name is Brittnee, and I got into PNR about three years ago when I happened to pick up the first 'Twilight' book at Wal-Mart. I've been hooked ever since, though I still read a lot of other genres. My favorite author in this genre (so far) is Kim Harrison (love love LOVE the Hollows series!) Some others I've enjoyed include Charlaine Harris, Stephenie Meyer, Patricia Briggs, and Jeaniene Frost. I'd love some suggestions for new series/books. :)

Susan (Suz) (sharney) | 292 comments You took the words right out of my mouth Lauren ;) Welcome to all the new members!:) Great to see this group growing!:)

Britnee I would recommend Laurell K Hamilton's Anita Blake and/or Merry Gentry series and Keri Arthur's Riley Jensen series if you are looking for new series! I also hear Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter is good but have not yet read her series but it's on my list for sure!

message 138: by Jade (new)

Jade | 1 comments Hi everyone! My name is Jade and I just got into PNR and UF this year. I admit, I didn't even know this genre existed until I started stalk...I mean, following Felicia Day. I'm so glad I did!!

I'm 27, married, with two kitty cats. Skin-kids to make an appearance when hubby stops saying, "Not yet." ;)

♦Jennifer♦ (thejenneral) | 12 comments hey all! :) The names Jennifer, and I am also addicted to reading. Been that way as far as I can remember. lol, Always had my nose stuck in a book.

Any-who, I guess my love of PNR probably started with Twilight. Then I went through the Anita Blake series, then Sookie Stackhouse, Mercy Thompson, Rachel Morgan, Mercedes Thompson, and a whole slew of others that I can't remember right now. My fav. authors at the moment would probably be
Kim Harrison, Patricia Briggs, Richelle Mead, and Jaye Wells. Although that's always changing.;)

The group looks fun and I can't wait to get started.=D

message 141: by Rebecca (Bec) (new)

Rebecca (Bec) | 56 comments Hi all
I’m Bec, from Melbourne Australia. My start to the Paranormal was with Anne Rice and Bram Stoker, back when I was a teen. I used to read a whole lot of Sci-Fi fantasy back then and for a long time I read nothing until, like Jennifer, Twilight hit the market!
Since Twilight I have rekindled my love of reading and have stuck to the Paranormal romance scene. Authors I have read include Sherrilyn Kenyon – my most favourite (DarkHunter and Lords Of Avalon series) Patricia Briggs, Karen Chance, Richelle Mead, Claudia Gray, Laurell K Hamilton (Meredith Gentry series) Rachel Vincent , Yasmine Galenorn, Christine Feehan.
Funny enough I have read most of these authors and series this year alone. My partner even had to buy me a new bookcase, but at the same time he is loving the fact that he gets to watch anything he likes on the TV, because I don’t care if I’m busy reading!

I’m not overly great with discussion groups as I am a shocking speller and very self conscious about it (I’m a reader, not a writer!) however I thought I would give it a bash. Looking forward to hearing what others have to say about the books I have been reading!

message 142: by [deleted user] (new)

I live in a small town with a small library and we don't have a lot of these books everyone is talking about so I am wanting a list of writers you guys like and maybe I might be able to find some of them at our library.

message 143: by Jess (new)

Jess | 3721 comments Welcome Rebecca!!

Jinnifer, you can definitely find a whole list of authors. Each thread under the PNR and UF folders are threads devoted to various authors in the genre. Also in the favorites threads, people list their favorite authors for the genre.

message 144: by Steph (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 1573 comments Hi, I'm Stephanie. I've been a fan of vamp books since Anne Rice in the 80's. Since then PNR & UF have taken off and I don't know whether to be happy or overwhelmed sometimes. Used to have to hunt HARD for anything paranormal to read, now I'm almost drowning in them. LOL

My favorite authors are: Jeaniene Frost, Kelley Armstrong, Kim Harrison, Charlaine Harris, Caitlin Kittredge, Jocelynn Drake, Ilona Andrews, Karen Chance, Rachel Vincent ... I could go on, but you get the idea.

I tend to need a vamp-fix every so often, but I've expanded over the years and read just about anything sup-related. Other than Harry Potter I haven't read any wizard books. I'm pretty open though. I've only recently begun to read J.R. Ward, if you can believe that. And still haven't read any of the many, many L.A. Banks or Laurell K. Hamilton books. One day, but something new always seems to catch my eye first.

Not too big on general romance, but a good PNR warms my ... heart. >:) hehe

Look forward to participating with the group, meeting people and finding good books!
