Yeah, pretty sure. The Internet is chock-full of interesting subjects.

Unfortunetely, my laptop is buggered and mum's phone (what I'm typing with now) is running out've charge. I mightn't be able to talk to you guys for the rest of the month. At the very least, anyway.

Sorry I can't chat with you guys more. :(

I know a bit of Japanese and Italian, too. :P
But I only know the basics in Italian. xD

Yeah, sorry 'bout that...~ *scratches back of head sheepishly* I only meant it as a bit of a joke.

Plus, it helped with testing if I got the whole Image thing right. XD

Anyway, Spanish, you say? How interesting!

message 235: by Bailey (new)

Bailey Barbour | 15 comments Yea in my high school you had to take either Spanish or French to graduate. Though I think I should have took French because most of my friends did and it sounds a bit cooler than Spanish. But they also said it was kinda harder to learn than Spanish. I'm the same with Italian, just the basics. Japanese I learned out of personal interest. I learned some on my own and then I was in a Japanese culture club during high school.

I've heard that it's very hard for an English speaker to learn Japanese. Is this true?

message 237: by Bailey (new)

Bailey Barbour | 15 comments Well I guess it depends on the person. I watched anime stuff when I was younger sometimes in Japanese with subtitles. So I was a bit more familiar with it and it came easier for me. But I remember I asked my friend to come with me to the club meeting one day and she couldn't get the pronunciations of the words we learned that day. I think though it's hard to learn the written form of Japanese. The know the specific differences between each one of the symbols is more challenging to me then being able to say them.

Really? Around here, my school only visibly offers Italian, but it isn't a compulsory thing. I would've thought they'd be just as hard to learn as the other, given the languages? True, true. Japanese would be rather hard to learn in my opinion.

message 240: by [deleted user] (new)

English, French, and Spanish.

message 241: by Bailey (new)

Bailey Barbour | 15 comments I wish I could've taken Italian in high school. But I guess again it depends on the person how hard one is from another. I was familiar with Spanish because my father and two older brothers speak it some to communicate with the workers who speak it at our farm.

Well, each to their own, I guess.~ :) It was compulsory in the 1st year of high-school and all throughout Primary. But I know a few classmates who chose Italian because you can "Broaden your horizons" with another language. As you say, the adaptability one has for any foreign language depends on the person and how hard that specific language is to the person learning. Either way, it's nice to have language skills for communicating.

The language I speak is English. I can speak some Spanish (two years of learning it and it is already slipping away). I took French for a year in high school, but I was gone due to medical problems, so I don't remember much of it. To amuse myself when I am really bored, I try to speak with accents if that counts? XD

I would love to learn other languages though I haven't settled on a particular language just yet.
