Your thoughts about the last book you read?
Just finished
, i read it years ago, i liked it then... This time round it bored me
I just finished Melissa a Explains It All. The memoir from Melissa Joan Hart. I loved the book but at same time was annoyed by her. She discussed the challenges of being a celebrity and also bring a good mom. It's really funny in many parts. Chuckled a lot. Found it almost a little 'braggy" in a subtle kinda way if that makes any sense. She is down to earth but at same time reminds you she's a celebrity.
I recently finished My Enemy's Cradle. It was interesting and engaging. I learned stuff about WW2 without even realizing I was learning.
How does one add the picture of book? Did try "add book." Just finished The Kitchen House. Loved it at first til bit past midway then by end I was exhausted by all their troubles. I need some victory. There was, but in all felt their lives did not end as happily as I wished. My problem: happily ever after kind of reader. :)
OH yes, there always seems to be more about that era. Book Thief is very good. I may want to pick up My Enemy's Cradle. thank you.

Is anyone else as excited as I am after seeing the movie trailer yesterday on TV for Mark Helprin's Winter's Tale? I loved that book and have always thought it would make a great movie. I just finished reading A Stone's Throw It held my interest, very different from my usual reads. The ending surprised me! Certainly intend to read other books by Alida Winternheimer in the future. I just finished
it was my 3rd John Green, I really enjoyed it. not as much as the others but it was still a great read. Something I really wasn't able to put down.
I'm reading The Barbershop Seven by Douglas Lindsay from start to finish. I just finished The Resurrection of Barney Thompson which is the fourth book in the series. it wasn't my favourite of them so far, but it still had the wit and unexpected twists and turns as the others before it. Definitely worth a read. What I love about these books, aside from the unexpected plot twists, the constant guessing, and the wittiness is that they could easily be read as stand alone books.

Both Sides of Time is a book that I totally recommend to people who love time travel stories, romances, and tearjerkers. Although Annie had to lose the only romantic man in her life, Strat, she did it for a good cause.

I just finished the book I am Malala. It is an amazing book that gives an in depth explanation of the struggles of young girls in their quest to get an education. It also opens up the power of religion in a Muslim society.
I just finished A Memory of Light, the final book in a series I've been reading for YEARS. There aren't enough superlatives to describe how much I loved this book - I get teary just thinking about it! 5★ for sure - it deserves many more than just five. Just finished A Spy Among Friends: Kim Philby and the Great Betrayal. it was a good book, and well written, but I would have liked a little more info as to Kim's life in the USSR... Like all Ben Macintyre's books, it was thoughtfully researched, and didn't pull it's punches where needed.
I just finished
by Barbara Kingsolver. It's her first novel, a bit dated now but a great story and her voice is already strong in the narrative. It's told by the main character, a Kentucky girl who gets out of her slough-of-despair home county and charges through the night in a wrecked Volkswagen on her way to new ventures and new connections in the Southwest. There's a heart-tugging plot, great scene-setting without tedious detail, endearing characters, and as always with Barbara Kingsolver, there's a garden.
Today I finished The Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson. It is the second book in the Mistborn trilogy and a very strong fulcrum for the series, I think. I thoroughly enjoyed it - 4★s.Here is my review:

Finished Brainrush last night. Good idea in principal, but in practise? Nope. Didn't work. I guess it's because I couldn't empathise with the character, but there wasn't enough detail about things that I considered important. Things like what the significance of the prism was - and if the tribespeople were supposed to be muslims, then there was no way they would have revered such an item!
So one to file as a never again I'm afraid.

Just finished (as in finished in my lunch break) Biohazard - a real eye-opener about the Soviet bio-weapons projects. Ok - it didn't go into super details about the bugs that they were developing, but it made for an interesting read as it allowed a small insight into the though processes behind such horrible weapons.

Iloved it too! I'm almost caught up with the series, but not in a hurry, because I like to savor each adventure before starting the next one. I love Jim butcher's style, and Harry is a wonderful character.
You Know When the Men Are Gone eight short stories about the solders and their wives living at Fort Hood. In spite of the name most of the stories are really about what happens when the men return home from deployment. It was pretty good.

I just finished A Window on Eternity: A Biologist's Walk Through Gorongosa National Park by Edward O. Wilson. It's a fascinating story, sad but ultimately hopeful. There's a great video that comes with it. I got it from the library, maybe you can do the same.
I recently finished Gossip from the Forest by Sara Maitland, a fascinating and beautiful book about the role forests have played in fairytales. It was an absolute joy to read, I highly recommend it for anyone interested in folklore and storytelling. I don't do this very often, but I'm giving this book 5★s.Here is my review:

i just finished "An Officer and a Spy" by Robert Harris. It is a great book that is set in France in the early nineteenth century. An innocent soldier is discharged from the army for a crime he did not commit. A recently promoted Major discovers the truth and persuades his superiors that an error has been made. However, his life is endangered as a result of this. The moral in the story is that it pays to do the right thing.
