Just finished second in the series Kittyhawk Down by Garry Disher. This series hasn't totally grabbed me yet, but because he is an AA, and Brenda highly recommends his later work, I will keep going :)
★★★

Really liked this one - 5/5, love the Aussie outback settings used in this series.
Just finished new to me author Allen Eskens -The Life We Bury.
I particularly enjoyed the pace and tone of this debut book. It is sold as first in the Detective Max Rupert series, but Max is very much a periphery character in the book. I will look around for the next in the series though.

Have just finished The Choke by Australian Author Sofie LagunaI would class this as an out of genre book, although I noticed that a few people have shelved it as crime/mystery.
And there is certainly plenty of crime. I selected this as part of an Aussie Readers challenge - read a "book with dark themes". And there were plenty of dark themes to go around.
But in spite of the tears that came to my eyes at times, and in spite of the dread that sat in my stomach through much of it, ultimately this is a story about hope, and friendship and love.
I am very glad to have read this book. ★★★★☆

You took the words right out of my mouth, Kerri!
I've been listening to the audiobook since 6, February and am nearing the end. Is it possible to feel on cloud nine and sad at the same time??
