Nicholas Reardon (nicholasreardon) Hi Folks

I have just added a book trailer to my book Love of Chocolate could you take a look at it and let me know what you think of the video clip

You can find it on the book page or a direct link is http://www.goodreads.com/videos/show/...

Hey Nicholas. You might get a better response if you started a thread in the Authors section.

More people will see it there, instead of buried here in our Introduction thread.

Rich Jr. (richbottlesjr) | 1 comments Greetings, what caught my eye about this group and made it the first group I joined is that it was started in WV and it concentrated on fantasy books.
After an unillustrious print journalism career in southwestern Pennsylvania, I moved to West Virginia at the age of 32 to pursue a career in technical writing. I spend my free time visiting and hiking at the many state and national parks in the Mountain State, which is also where I develop the concepts for my novels. I plan on producing a trilogy of WV-themed "humorrorotica" and am currently working on a story set in the vicinity of Seneca Rocks. My only regret in life is that my out-of-state secondary school education prohibited me from earning West Virginia's prestigious Golden Horseshoe Award.

message 1304: by [deleted user] (new)

Heyas Rich.

"humorrorotica" just sounds all kinds of wrong. But interesting :P

message 1305: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (snugshelf) Hi everyone, I'm Amanda :) I'm 16 (17 in a few weeks) and I first joined Goodreads so I could keep track of my crazy big list of to read books. It hasn't helped my obsessive adding of any book that looks interesting to my list, but it's definitely more organized. :) I've recently gotten into groups though, and am lovin it. :D
I like pretty much any genre, but I read mostly fantasy/SciFi and YA books. I also love action/adventure books, historical fiction, some paranormal and somee romance too. I joined this group a while ago, just never introduced myself. I started reading the Mistborn series, which I'd never heard of before it was featured here, and it's amazing, so I can't wait to read the other featured books. :)

message 1308: by [deleted user] (new)

Heyas Hannah.

I have no clue what that series/book is, but you might get an answer if you posted it in a separate thread in the Members Section.

Also, if I remember correctly, there's a group specifically for finding books. Lessee...here it is:
http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/1...

They might be able to help you as well. :)

message 1309: by Bill (last edited Oct 12, 2010 07:25PM) (new)

Bill Hi, I'm 54 years old and enjoy most genres, especially mystery and sci fi. I'm a Canadian from the Comox Valley in British Columbia, recently retired from the Canadian Armed Forces and now working part time as a Reservist. I am currently reading a historical drama, The White Company by AC Doyle and a horror type novel, The Green Man by Kingsley Amis.

I've recently discovered some new sci fi/ fantasy authors, Phyllis Gottlieb, Lester del Rey, Iain Banks. I look forward to seeing what discussions this group has.

p.s. I'm his wife, Jo and I just edited this post because he got his own age wrong and can't spell drama. ;o)

The Three Musketeers - Dumas
Nine Princes in Amber
Blood Music - Bear
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - Adams

And here is a much shorter list of my stuff

Winter of the Wild Hunt

message 1313: by Xzarf (last edited Oct 13, 2010 10:32AM) (new)

Xzarf Hi all, I am Gavin, hailing from the great white north (Grande Prairie, AB, CAN). I am a 30something who has been in love with the Sci-Fi genre ever since I saw the original Star Wars as a little kid.
I have read all sorts of sci-fi/fantasy books (still working on my list) and will continue to do so for the rest of my life. I have found that as I age my tastes are shifting much more to the sci-fi side of things but I will occasionally toss in some fantasy when it peaks my interest.
My latest author addictions are Peter F. Hamilton and Richard Morgan. (currently in the middle of The Neutronium Alchemist).

message 1314: by [deleted user] (new)

Hiyas Xzarf. I keep meaning to grab The Neutronium Alchemist as well, but everytime i hit the bookstore, I completely forget.

Scribble Orca (scribbleorca) Hi
not big on talking about myself. i'm 18+, and am finishing a sci-fi/fantasy novel (have posted chapter 1 to my writing) which i'm debating whether to self-publish or go the traditional route.

i live on one of the LDC continents, have mixed parentage and have been adopted by a desert dog.

i'm eclectic with my genres but can't keep away from sci-fi/fantasy.

message 1316: by [deleted user] (new)

Hiyas GN.

What's an LDC continent?

message 1317: by Scribble (new)

Scribble Orca (scribbleorca) :D

sorry, i should have typed it in, was lazy. lesser developed country is the PC term. basically means the general population has a pretty poor standard of living.

hi back to you, too :)

message 1318: by [deleted user] (new)

Ahhhh, so 3rd world nation? Gotcha.

message 1319: by Scribble (new)

Scribble Orca (scribbleorca) yeah...but 3rd world isn't pc and this is public :)

i'm not that brave and it was my introductory post....

Silvio Curtis | 245 comments Hello,

I'm currently a student at a small liberal arts college (Classics/Math double major). I've ben reading fantasy ever since I could read and science fiction almost that long, but I'm new to fandom. The Silmarillion is my favorite book.

I wish I had time to follow along with the books of the month, but I'll have to limit myself to commenting on books that I've already read anyway.

I'm math with an English/philosophy minor (the philosophy sort of crept in and refused to leave). ^_^ Welcome.

Jon (fd68) | 1 comments Hi - I'm Jon from Whitley Bay in N.E England. I'm a full time lecturer (Psychology - stats and neuroscience though not the warm fuzzy stuff!) at Sunderland University and am an avid reader of just about anything though SciFi and Fantasy is my first love.

Currently I'm not reading any scifi/f as I'm going through an Indian novelist phase but have recently re-read the Hyperion Cantos (brilliant) and read Peter Hamilton's Void trilogy.

I'm 19 years old student from Warsaw, Poland. In next year i will have ending-exams and then i will probably go on technic studies.
When I was young my mother allways taked me with her to public library (she reads lot of romantic / cryminal novels:) ), so I started reading books from early child.

message 1337: by Dorie (new)

Dorie (dorieann) Hello all, I have to admit for years I avoided fantasy or science fiction books like the plague. I thought they just weren't for me. Looking back I think it was the books featuring completely alien alternate universes that I couldn't connect with. But I found a few authors I liked and realized the genre was bigger and more diverse than I had thought. So I'm looking for recommendations for good stories.

message 1338: by Nicholas (new)

Nicholas Wynn (nicholaswadewynn) | 2 comments Hi my name is Nicholas Wynn, I'm an author of a book I'd like people to check out. It's about a group of special ops soldiers in a sci fi setting with a bit of fantasy, action, comedy, and so forth. They are called FALCONS, and not about the birds either. The word FALCONS is an acronym for First Assault to Last Conflict Organization of Neo Soldiers. They are tasked with mission after mission to work toward a common goal for the survival of humanity. Their enemies range from 4 Imperial military supower powered territories, terrorists, people possessed by demons and devils, to mutations. So far a hand full of people have read the book with no complaints, and now I'm trying to get my name out there and word about my book circulating. check the book out at www.nicholaswynn.com

Allan Fisher (funkstermonov) | 9 comments Hello,

My name is Allan and I am 40. I am a father of two small boys. I work only on weekends as I look after my boys through the week.

I have always loved the Sci-Fi and Fantasy genres. I also help out as a reviewer on the fantasy book review website - http://www.fantasybookreview.co.uk/ - I am down to finish off the Shadows of the Apt series and Alan Campbell's Deepgate trilogy by Christmas for the site.

I am currently reading Revelation Space by fellow Welshman Alastair Reynolds. Good so far.

I am a software engineer based out of Atlanta GA. Just finished Way of Kings and the newest WOT book and loved both. I pretty much read everything and look forward to sharing my thoughts on some of the selected reads in the future. This looks like it should be allot of fun.

Kriss Perras (kriss-perras) | 2 comments Hi All,

I am Kriss Perras Running Waters. I have loved science fiction since I was little. I grew up on the original Star Trek when it first came out, because my Dad was a Star Trek fan. We watched each episode. (I am 44 years old). I'm here to see what people are interested in reading.

I currently own the independent story development and film production company Running Waters Productions. I am the previous Publisher and Editor of Malibu Arts Journal and PCH Press (Malibu's daily newspaper) and am a 2002 member of the prestigious American National Honor Society Who's Who in American Universities and Colleges. 300 Nights marks my first novel in a saga of four science fiction books: 300 Nights, Fard Ayn, Exile and Holo. I previously worked for a well-known development firm in Hollywood where I learned the craft of story development, a trade I enjoy and find highly gratifying. So I am a screenwriter, author and director. Plus I love photography. I had the privildge of being a showcased artist on the CMTV Chanel 14 Artists Showcase in my area for photographers. I also love poetry.

Again nice to meet everyone,
Kriss Perras Running Waters

Nicole | 2 comments Hello everyone! My reason for joining this group? Well, when I was younger I loved the Harry Potter books and the Animorphs books... My love for fantasy and sci fi continues to grow exponentially. I'm 19 years old and am currently addicted to Brandon Sanderson. About 3/4 of the way through "The Way of Kings" and planning to get started on "Elantris" right after that!

message 1350: by Nathalia (new)

Nathalia (nenssa) | 8 comments Howdy,

I'm Nathalia, born in Brazil and currently residing in Connecticut. Fantasy novels have always been part of my life ever since I first began reading, and has evolved into a form of escapism leading up to my college years. I'm 21-years-old and am pursuing a BA in software programming and animation. Currently my favorite fantasy authors are both James Clemens and Jeaniene Frost, however my favorite novel is a collection of short stories by a plethora of authors called "The Mammoth Book of Fantasy." I joined GR not too long ago in search of groups and people that share a similar taste in novels and look forward to sharing opinions with anyone willing to do so.

I look forward to being active in this group and the chance to meet other members.

- Nat
