"Inspector vickle" [s]

There was a collection of stories with dogs in them for young adults, probably published in the late 1970s (possibly early 80s).

In one of the stories, the girl and boy were invesitgating something. They kept having to go through a security gate where the guard would ask to "inspect your vehicle", but he guard had an accent and the girl always thought of him as "Inspector Vickle".

That's all I remember, but the phrase/name "Inspector Vickle" has been stuck in my mind for about 30 years now. Help! ;^D

Sunbonnet: Filly of the Year by Barbara Van Tuyl. However, dogs aren't involved, it's about a crooked horse farm. There is only a girl investigating, named Julie. She is helped by a man called Pop.
