To Kill A Mockingbird is a fantastic book, and also my favorite movie ever--Gregory Peck is just awe-inspiring as Atticus.

My daughter, Alison, read it in school this year, and she loved it too. She read it incredibly fast, which is rare for her! My kids have all seen the movie, though, its a family rite in this house to watch some of my favorite movies ever!

Finished reading Wasteland by Susan Kim , and it was good, but I really wish the authors had not created a stupid romance in it. It really could have been left out. Luckily, it doesn't take up very much story. Other than that, I liked it!

Now reading Towering by Alex Flinn and Plague (Gone, #4) by Michael Grant for a buddy read!

message 3652: by chucklesthescot (new)

chucklesthescot I finished Cemetery Club by J.G. Faherty and I'll be starting Carnival Of Fear by J.G. Faherty

Sherrie | 1212 comments I finished Siege and Storm which I loved. 5 stars! Now I'm listening to the audio CD of The Silver Star by Jeannette Walls and reading Department Nineteen (Department Nineteen, #1) by Will Hill

Finished Towering by Alex Flinn and I liked it almost as much as Beastly.

Almost done with Plague (Gone, #4) by Michael Grant and getting ready to start Vortex (Tempest, #2) by Julie Cross --I'm extremely late for a reading this on a buddy read.

Also starting a buddy read of Looking for Alaska by John Green today!

message 3655: by Gabby (new)

Gabby HOW ARE YOU ALL READING SO FAST? I haven't felt the need to pick up a book since the start of the holidays, meaning I haven't read anything in a week :/

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 12932 comments Mod
I would have read more today, but I spent half my day watching booktuber videos on YouTube!

message 3657: by Gabby (new)

Gabby Youtube is awesome :)

message 3658: by chucklesthescot (new)

chucklesthescot I'm reading Carnival Of Fear by J.G. Faherty and it is a great horror read.

message 3659: by chucklesthescot (new)

chucklesthescot I've just finished with Confessions of a red neck zombie killing psycho by L.R. Currell which was a good zombie read.

Yay! So excited to see your thoughts on it Jenny.

message 3665: by Renuka (new)

Renuka | 12 comments I loved Looking for Alaska too, although it was so much darker than The Fault in Our Stars. John Green's style has changed a lot although he is hands down amazing in any book :D

I'm reading Etiquette & Espionage (Finishing School, #1) by Gail Carriger but it's very different from what I was expecting! Pretty good though.

I thought Etiquette and Espionage was completely different than I was expecting, too, but I liked it!

Renuka | 12 comments Jenny wrote: "I thought Etiquette and Espionage was completely different than I was expecting, too, but I liked it!"

It's more heavily steampunk than I expected. I obviously knew there would be but I was really thinking it would focus a lot more on the actual assassin training stuff. Maybe it will later but as I'm going through it I'm seeing a lot of mystery and technology. I'm getting less of a feel for what the summary actually said it was about. That's fine with me though! I am enjoying Sophronia's antics and the emphasized Victorian era.

message 3668: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 2372 comments Have you guys read Soulless Soulless (Parasol Protectorate, #1) by Gail Carriger ? I love that series and enjoyed seeing some of the same characters in Etiquette and Espionage.

message 3669: by Renuka (last edited Jul 09, 2013 07:42PM) (new)

Renuka | 12 comments No actually! I've heard that it's really good but I wasn't aware of it being connected until after I started reading E&E. It's up soon to read though. It isn't necessary to go Soulless and then E&E right? I know that the worlds are the same. I didn't know some characters were the same too.

message 3670: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 2372 comments Soulless is like the adult version of E&E. It is excellent on audiobook if you like that format at all. I was wondering if some of you had read it before E&E by your comments because I was pretty prepared for E&E's format after I read all the Parasol Protectorate series beforehand.

message 3671: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 2372 comments p.s. they are separate series so no need to read them first - it is more like a companion series

message 3672: by Renuka (new)

Renuka | 12 comments Okay thanks! I think I prefer reading them myself because they go faster and I guess I like making up the voices and stuff. But I get motion sick in the car so maybe I'll give Soulless a try as audio and play it in the car on a trip or something. Can't wait!

One of those weeks when I'm reading a bit of everything and as usual, a couple of books I had on hold at my elibrary came in. Soooo, with that said, I'm reading Tribulation (Rapture Trilogy, #2) by Phillip W. Simpson which I won a signed inscribed copy of a few months ago. The author also sent me the ebook! Great guy, Phillip W. Simpson!

Library books, Insignia (Insignia, #1) by S.J. Kincaid and Mind Games (Mind Games, #1) by Kiersten White and audio Bloody Jack Being an Account of the Curious Adventures of Mary "Jacky" Faber, Ship's Boy (Bloody Jack, #1) by L.A. Meyer

And just bought the audio of The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1) by Patrick Ness for a reread of the series on audio! Eek... I keep cheating and will play a few minutes here and there when I'm in the middle of reading one of the other books. Must finish library books first!
