Good grief. That was something. Slim was hilarious - you're right! But oh, Saba and Jack. What a mess. You were right about her losing herself - that last book is going to be really interesting. Funny, though - I'm not dying to read it after finishing this one. I need to digest it.

Cool! I see the author has classified it as a dystopian romance. Is it heavy on the romance? I prefer light touch romance in this genre :)

So far I'd say not so much, I'm half way through and it's clear that the romance is there, but it isn't 'love at first sight' its more a 'hate, like a bit, learn to love' kind of thing. Its very teaserish with details too, telling you only a little bit about the world at a time!

It hasn't grabbed me yet. I usually love Dan Brown's books but there's so much reference to artwork or ancient books, I'm constantly stopping to look them up that I can't stay with the storyline. I'm also only reading late at night so don't have much brain left at that time. I need to try reading on the weekend in the daytime. :-) It seems like the exact same storyline of his other books and maybe it's the subject matter that's not grabbing me. Dante's Map of Hell? Not sure yet what it is that's not letting me get hooked. I will finish though!!

I fell like I'm so far behind (which I am) but I also just heard about this series a few months ago so I'm cutting myself some slack! I read the first one over winter break and I was kind of in a funk so I didn't really get into it. And I was very weirded out about the brother sister thing ( I must be the only one who feels that way) because thats incest and just ewww. I got about half way through the second book before I got too busy with school to continue but I think I will start over and give it another go before the movie comes out!

I was one of those people who read The Infernal Devices first, so I'm just now getting around to reading TMI. I really loved City of Bones, but it wasn't my favorite out of them all. I probably shouldn't compare them, though. I'm not sure what to think about the brother/sister thing. Because I just finished the first book, I can't help but wonder if it ends up not being true. Maybe that's just a foolish fantasy? I know a lot of people aren't liking the fact that Clare is writing more series. But I am. I love this unique world she's created. :)

I think cliffhangers are evil but necessary, so it depends on how badly I want the next book whether or not I don't mind waiting. I still need to read Beautiful Creatures (I won't see the movie until I do). And, awesome! I will let you know. :)

Steph is: Pageturning578 (stephw1991) Holly wrote: "Stephanie wrote: "Holly wrote: "Stephanie wrote: "Holly wrote: "Stephanie wrote: "Holly wrote: "Stephanie wrote: "Ok so I officially need to give the Mortal Instruments series another chance for..."

I feel the same way about cliffhangers! I give a lot of recommendations to the teen Librainan at my library so I was usually one of the first ones of the waiting list when a new book comes out. If its a really good book like (Divergent and Insurgent) I have to have it and I usually can't wait for it to come out in paperback so I get it from the library! So I totally understand not liking cliffhangers! Sometimes you just have to find out what happens next.

As for the Beautiful Creatures series I'm enjoying it so far. I mean its enjoyable but the books are about 500 pages each so its a lot of information to take in and it takes a while to get to the action. I like learning about the history of the different paranormal worlds so its not bothering me too much. But right now I feel like book 3 has a lot of repetition and I'm dying to get to the action. I haven't heard much about Beautiful Chaos which is what I'm reading now but I heard that the last book Beautiful Redemption wraps up the series on a good note. So I'm trying to stay open minded and finish the series but I'm kinda excited to move on to something else. I would still recommend giving the series a chance though.

I love the Divergent series, and now I'm anxiously awaiting Allegiant! :) It's one of those evil cliffhangers that I'm really hating right now!

I actually have a 500+ page book that I borrowed from the library. It's Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers. So we'll see how that one goes! If it's a really good book, I don't mind how long it is. But if it doesn't keep me interested, I find myself getting bored. I love learning about the history of whatever world I'm in (because I love fantasy books), but sometimes it drags or I learn so much information that I can't understand it all.

I agree 100% and thats why I like to buy my books! Because a lot of the series I've been reading have so much information in them that it is impossible to understand it all in one read! Also with a lot of the dystopian books I've been reading there is so much action and anticipation that I miss out on important facts or history! I think that is why I like waiting for the books in series because when I buy them I have more time to read at my own pace and try to absorb as much information as I can.

My uncle taught me from a young age not to let the page number or chapter number intimidate me! Just sit back and get lost in the story and escape from reality for a while. I think its the best advice anyone has given me =)

I definitely want to read that one as soon as I finish Unraveling (Unraveling, #1) by Elizabeth Norris probably tonight. I already put a hold on Unbreakable and am 2nd on the list. Hahhah...
