Just got Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver in audio from my elibrary. And dang it, they snatched back Linger (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #2) by Maggie Stiefvater before I was finished. I have to go back on the waiting list for that one. So looks like I'm switching to Before I Fall in the meantime. I have to have an audio book going at all times! Love them now.

Heidi, I didn't like the first couple I listened to BECAUSE of the narrator, but then I must have listened to one that was an amazing narrator because now I'm addicted to them. I can't imagine making coffee or taking a bath or cleaning house without listening to an audiobook now. :)

Nope. You didn't!! I only listen to audiobooks when I'm doing chores, or taking baths or getting ready. Audiobooks don't take away from my reading time. ;)

message 2158: by Jen (new)

Jen (jenwesner) | 1222 comments Karen, how do you download your audiobooks? Do you use overdrive? Since most of the ones I download are in.WMA format, I use my daughters Windows computer to do that. I upload them to my iPod, then reverse load them to my iTunes account via a program called Senuti. They stay in my audiobooks section of iTunes, and I always have them. If you could save them this way, in iTunes, it may solve the problem of the library taking it back before you finish it. I have all of the books I've read on my laptop readily available to transfer to my iPod anytime I want to reread them. The real trick here is to save them in iTunes and not get them directly from overdrive every time you want to listen to them. Once they're in iTunes, they stay in iTunes until you delete them. .

Heidi | 2372 comments Karen Sarah Drew is an excellent narrator so even if you don't like the book she will keep you entertained. So glad you gave audiobooks another try and love them now! I am crazy and listen to 3 different ones at a time (phone, Sansa, iPod, and in my car)

Oh yay! It worked. This will be great if I'm not quite finished and my two weeks are up! Thanks, Jen!!

Heidi, yes, iTunes is a bit of a pain in the arse, but at least I can finish a book even if it gets snatched back. I was really getting into Linger too. If I notice I'm not going to finish, at least I have an option now! Plus I've only been downloading books that I know I can recheck out again fairly quickly. I can check out any ole darn book I want now. Sooo excited!

Ok, so Sarah Drew is another narrator I need to look for. Got it! I keep learning all kinds of new things everyday!!

It's a lot easier when the books are in mp3 format -- I have a MacBook so it's a lot of back and forth from my iPod to MacBook and windows to iPod to MacBook to iPod - you get the idea. Senuti is a great little program that enables you to get stuff that's on your iPod to iTunes. Usually you can only go one direction from iTunes to iPod, but Senuti (iTunes spelled backwards) enables you to go from iPod to iTunes. That way you're not erasing what you loaded from Overdrive every time you sync. .

I have a PC not a Mac so it is a little more of a pain in the arse for me. What I do is download them into the Overdrive console then I use a program I paid for called sound taxi to covert them into mp3 unprotected files and then load them into itunes. Jen is right if they are already mp3 audio I can load them via Overdrive and it puts them into itunes where they stay until I delete them. I also download some directly into my Overdrive app but only if I can listen to them in the 14-21 time period. I normally load 3-4 audiobooks at a time so I have some ready to go for me later. The Sansa is my cheapest gaget and it by far the EASIEST to load things onto. It gets even tricker when I load them onto my Windows Phone via Zune because I have to use a program to make them appear as a "podcast" so it will keep my place! The things I do for audio! (That and I have use my sisters two Overdrive library accounts because she doesn't use them). I also previously paid $50 per year to use the Philly Free Library Overdrive but I didn't renew that this year. I am crazy for audio what can I say!

I really like that book. I need to read the sequels.

I've started My Soul to Take (Soul Screamers, #1) by Rachel Vincent (soul screamers). One of those series that I always see, but just kinda pass it up. Decided to give it a shot, liking it okay so far.

I am also reading Twice Bitten (Chicagoland Vampires, #3) by Chloe Neill and I like it but not as much as the first two books. Hoping that this is the only lull in the series because it really started strong.

I finished both The Name of the Star (Shades of London, #1) by Maureen Johnson and Love Unscripted (Love, #1) by Tina Reber today! Both were really good! The Name of the Star was just amazeballs! Great thriller mystery with great characters and paranormal! The sequel, The Madness Underneath (Shades of London, #2) by Maureen Johnson was just released, so now I have to read that one!

Love Unscripted is an adult contemporary romance about a famous Hollywood actor who meets a normal bar owner, Taryn. Its all about them becoming a couple and dealing with Hollywood. It was also really good, for what it was! Had me LOL several times, and then welling up with tears at other times. Its all told from Taryn's POV, and she was a great MC!

Now rereading Silence (Hush, Hush, #3) by Becca Fitzpatrick and then going to also start Speechless by Hannah Harrington
