Anna 'Bookbuyer' (bookbuyer) I've been marathoning my favourite series and I'm currently on Briar's Book (Circle of Magic, #4) by Tamora Pierce

I'm also still trying to finish a BR book that has stretched on for nearly two months! Scarlet (The Lunar Chronicles, #2) by Marissa Meyer Don't know why I can't get into it. It was fine the first time. I actually remember really enjoying it. :(

And a few others that have dragged on a bit because I had a mid month slump. The Laughing Corpse (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #2) by Laurell K. Hamilton Totally Captivated, Volume 3 (Totally Captivated #3) by Hajin Yoo

I also gave up on quite a few a couple of days ago.

I already finished Crimson Bound by Rosamund Hodge which is kind of amazing, as its not a short book or a quick read! I loved it! 4.5 stars. This may be one of the best retellings I've read yet! I absolutely loved this amazing world the author weaved, and the very intense take she did on the tale, "Little Red Riding Hood." This felt like what a true fairy tale should be. I was a little lost at first, as this world is pretty strange, but by about 1/3 of the way through, I'd figured it all out and I was HOOKED. Great story!

I think next is The Dragonet Prophecy (Wings of Fire, #1) by Tui T. Sutherland Time to try a dragon book!

I have 2 more chapters to go before I'm done with that one as well. It'll be tonight or tomorrow that I finish, depending on how much I keep writing and how enticing TV is before bed haha. The series is a lot different than I expected but in a very good way.

Daniel (pickyreader1) | 1925 comments Finished The Young Elites (The Young Elites, #1) by Marie Lu . Got very entertaining and engrossing near the end but ended up despising the main character. Undecided on the sequel.

I'm currently listening to our Rysa Walker's audiobook of her novella Time's Mirror (The Chronos Files, #2.5) by Rysa Walker . Love this story of Pru!!!

I'm getting ready for the release of Time's Divide (The Chronos Files, #3) by Rysa Walker later this month which is the final book in The Chronos Files series. Can't wait!!!

message 14975: by [deleted user] (new)

I hated the main character too. I'm going to read the sequel, and am hoping I won't want to slap her so much during it as I did with the first book.

I don't think you're supposed to like the MC...The MC in this series is actually the villain, or so explained by Marie Lu.

I felt the same way myself, but I enjoyed the read overall and am going to read the sequel at some point.

Victoria Zigler (toriz) | 4472 comments I've hardly done any reading over the past week, since I had family visiting, and used almost all of what free time I had on the weekend to try not to get behind on e-mails and posts. Also, the weekend tired me out so much I kept falling asleep every time I sat still for more than a couple of minutes throughout most of Monday and Tuesday. I read when I could stay awake long enough to do so, but it means I only managed to finnish two books in the past week, and one of those I only had a chapter or two left to read this time last week, anyway. The books were Vilette and A Room with a View. Plus, I started reading the ARC of Katrina Cope's book The Taking (which is due out tomorrow, I believe).

Well, I enjoyed the book itself, so as long as I'm not meant to like her, that's OK.

Now I'm starting Uprooted by Naomi Novik again which I put down for a bit.

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 957 comments I finished The Rise of Nine (Lorien Legacies, #3) by Pittacus Lore last night. I liked it, but it was easily my least favorite in the series so far. Still gonna read the rest though. Good stuff.

Up next, Flesh and Bone (Benny Imura, #3) by Jonathan Maberry

I had trouble getting through The Elite too. The One was better...but overall this series was def not my favorite! Parts of it I did like...but I have to say, America was the dumbest girl in the world when it came to romance and competition!

Siege and Storm...I liked it, not quite as much as the first one. It gets really good the last half. Ruin and Rising was my fave of the trilogy, SO GOOD!

The love triangle in The Elite is driving me absolutely insane! I really didn't have a problem with America in the first book but I just don't even want to pick the book back up. :/
