Harlee | 1583 comments I HATE buying e-books because the price can be close to or just as much as an actual copy sometimes!

I usually only buy ones that are on sale...$5 or less is usually my line.

message 13453: by Harlee (new)

Harlee | 1583 comments I used to be obsessed with finding decent freebies lol! The most I ever paid for one was I think $10 or $11 but it was newly released and I couldn't wait to buy an actual copy! It was a Rick Riordan book, of course! :D

I usually buy the ebooks on sale for no more than $2.99. But if I'm binge reading a series, and the last one or two is $4.99 I'll pay it. ;)

If they're $9.99 or more, I can usually find them in my elibrary. And if it's a book I really must have, I'll pay the hardcover price instead of the $9.99.

lol, the only hardcover book I ever bought was Light by Michael Grant. I would have bought BoO too, if I hadn't been lucky enough to be first in line at the library. Kids at school love Riordan.

I have too many books going right now! ;) The top 3 I'm reading are The Star Dwellers (The Dwellers, #2) by David Estes on audio, The Martian by Andy Weir in hardback, and beta reading Rysa Walker's newest novella, Time's Mirror, which is releasing on June 30th!

message 13457: by Harlee (new)

Harlee | 1583 comments @Daniel I have the whole HoO series in hardcover. Not because I prefer them to paperback, though they do look very nice together, but there was NO WAY I could wait for the paperback copies lol!

I hear you, the wait is agonizing.

Jumping right into the next book in the series, Heir of Fire

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 957 comments Just finished The Final Descent (The Monstrumologist, #4) by Rick Yancey Not my favorite series, but one that stands alone in a very unique way. I doubt I'll ever read another series too similar to this. Fantastic.

Now I'm starting Fairest (The Lunar Chronicles, #3.5) by Marissa Meyer

message 13461: by Jen (new)

Jen (jenwesner) | 1222 comments I switched from audio to ebook for The Memory Painter A Novel by Gwendolyn Womack It's really good but the narration feels slow.

So since that left me needing an audiobook I started The Moon Dwellers (The Dwellers, #1) by David Estes and HOLY COW IT'S A TOTALLY DIFFERENT BOOK ON AUDIO! Julia Whelan and Will Damron are fabulous. Really enjoying it so far.

message 13462: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) I've finally started City of Ashes. I've read City of Bones lots of times, so it's time to finally read book two :D

Teresa Harlee wrote: "I HATE buying e-books because the price can be close to or just as much as an actual copy sometimes!"

I refuse to pay the same price for an ebook as an actual book. It just doesn't seem right. There are great deals out there on ebooks. My max is probably $9.99 but that's only for a book I'm dying for. Otherwise I usually don't go above 5$

Well, the tone of the series get more mature as the series go on as well, but I do agree that this book series can be very teenage like at times.

I actually am. And you know me, I haven't been able to do fantasy that much lately. But this feels a bit roman historical, which I love, and definitely dystopian, and even Hunger Games ish. So really enjoying it even though it has some pretty dark themes in it.

Great book. Some readers had problems with connecting to the story, but I felt very engaged.

I'm also listening to End of Days (Penryn and the End of Days, #3) by Susan Ee on audio book whenever I get the chance.

Harlee | 1583 comments Still working on The Curse of the Wendigo (The Monstrumologist, #2) by Rick Yancey . I'm enjoying it but this is one of those series that is hard for me to get through quickly. I decided to start rereading Dark Triumph (His Fair Assassin, #2) by Robin LaFevers so I can FINALLY read Mortal Heart. I love this series. And I'm going to start buddy reading UnDivided (Unwind, #4) by Neal Shusterman tomorrow with David! :D

message 13492: by Storm (new)

Storm Arashi (stormarashi) | 1130 comments Harlee - Still on that one too. I love the series but the pacing does make it a bit of a beast to tackle at once.

As far as Monstrumologist goes, I agree fully. Loved the series, but 3 of the 4 books took me a week or longer to finish. It didn't grip me the way a lot of books do, even books I don't enjoy as much. kind of odd, really haha.
