I see your still enjoying the Baby-Sitters Club. You're kind of making me want to reread them! UGH! Shouldn't have sold them I guess...

Victoria Zigler (toriz) | 4472 comments Yeah, Jenny, I am.

I can see why so many people loved them, and am glad I decided to give them a read. They're quite addictive, aren't they?

Now I just need the money to buy the rest of the series, so I can read them all...

Thanks for reading Slip, Brittany!

I am WAY behind on reading because we have so many friends/family who have been visiting us in Hawaii. I am slowly chugging through the last GoTs book, but I hope to get back to reading some YA soon!

LOVED this book. 5-star series for me.

message 13269: by Jen (new)

Jen (jenwesner) | 1222 comments Finished up Boneshaker (The Clockwork Century, #1) by Cherie Priest on audio and it was great! Interesting combination of steampunk, zombies and flintlock fantasy. Kate Reading and Wil Wheaton narrated on audio (and Wheaton was far better than Reading).

I bounced around for awhile for the next book but have settled on The Decaying Empire (The Vanishing Girl, #2) by Laura Thalassa primarily because Kate Rudd is narrating. I needed a good narrator more than a fantastic story.
Also reading Light in the Shadows (Find You in the Dark, #2) by A. Meredith Walters in print (angsty YA contemporary, almost more trouble than it's worth) and Storm Siren (Storm Siren, #1) by Mary Weber on my iPad (good but hard to get back into after putting it down).

message 13270: by Michelle (last edited Jun 01, 2015 09:35AM) (new)

Tracy | 823 comments I finished Twisted by Andrew E. Kaufman and Alex by Adam J. Nicolai over the weekend and both were a little mind twisting. I'm listening to Steelheart (Reckoners, #1) by Brandon Sanderson now and so far it's OK.

I liked but didn't love Steelheart, Tracy. A clever idea but I wasn't that attached to the characters. Hope you enjoy it more than me though!

Rebecca McCray (RebPai) | 195 comments I'm reading submissions for a writing conference I'm attending. Feels a little like homework, but interesting. I think I may steer toward another genre when I pick up the next book, though I did just snag a couple of YA fantasies.

I'm not really invested in the characters either David but the story is pretty good. Did you read the rest of the books? Wonder if you get more attached later?

Tracy, I loved Steelheart, and the sequel Firefight. I did get much more attached to the MC in Firefight. Mainly I enjoy them for the story, though, the whole superhero element is fun :) They are just fun reads!

I didn't continue on. Too little time and too many books, so I'm being quite selective with the series I continue with (only the ones I really love). Let me know if you continue on and how the second book is if you do. If Jenny really loved it, I might have to change my mind and give it a try!

I agree. I thought this was a like not love as a book, but could totally picture it as a movie. The bank scene, the ending... I could just picture everything playing really well on the big screen.

Haven't read Firefight yet, it's on my "i'll read it someday but I don't have a burning desire to get to it right away" list
