LOL lots of different opinions on The Selection!! I read it in less than two days, so it was a page-turner. My biggest complaint was how predictable it was, but I have to admit I enjoyed it! But yeah, the world building was awful from a dystopian standpoint. But the story was entertaining and kept me reading :)

I am! Its kind of fast paced and there are little things that bug me with the writing but other than that it's a great read!

Finished Undeadly (The Reaper Diaries, #1) by Michele Vail and it was just okay for me. I liked the concept, but felt way too "flip" to me for the subject matter. 3.5 stars. At least it was a quick read!

Really enjoying The Monstrumologist (The Monstrumologist, #1) by Rick Yancey about halfway through!

message 9722: by Cindee (new)

Cindee | 331 comments David I enjoyed the whole Selection series, the first being my favorite. it was just an easy enjoyable read....like you said predictable, but it was good...keeps you addicted to it. I remember when I first read it, I read reviews about how aweful everyone thought it was, and here I was a 38 year old woman in love with this book, I was embarrassed, like maybe I shouldnt enjoy it lol. But I loved it...not sure if I will continue with new set she is coming out with...I think it ended the way it should, happy and predictable and I was happy for it. For the record I hate all Bachelor shows too....still good series.

Cindee | 331 comments Im taking a break from dystopian and went to Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult, every year I think....I wont like this new book by Jodi, its not a subject im interested in....and bam, fall right in love. One quality book a year...so worth the wait!

Heidi | 2372 comments David I checked back about why I did not read The Selection. There was some controversy after it came out that the author and her agent were commenting negatively towards bad reviewers. I can't remember the whole deal but that is always a turn off for me.

To be honest, I had made a similar decision to not read it for that reason. Her agent and her were tweeting about a negative reviewer and calling her a b----. That really turned me off to the series too, but in the end I snagged it when it was on sale more out of curiosity than anything else LOL. But yeah, the controversy with the author left a sour taste in my mouth.

NEVER be embarrassed for liking a book. You're allowed to like what you like, regardless of age, gender, etc, and you don't have to explain it to anyone. I read tons of YA books meant for females and I'm a 33yo male LOL!

I wish I could "LIKE" this. I'm a bit younger than David(28) But the bulk of my reading, 80% or more, is written for people 1/2-1/3 my age. And half of those books are intended for girls. No shame. If you're enjoying reading, you're doing it right :)
