Donna (donanicole) | 897 comments I am having such a hard time finding something to read that grabs me. I am getting spoiled with good books. So now I am reading The Camp The Camp by Greg Hair by Greg Hair. It grabbed me right away. I am so fascinating by anything WWII concerning the tragedy of the holocaust. So far I am liking it.

you should try Skulduggery Pleasant (Skulduggery Pleasant, #1) by Derek Landy grabs you from the first sentence.also another thing you could do is read an anthology like Foretold 14 Tales of Prophecy and Prediction by Carrie Ryan Zombies Vs. Unicorns by Holly Black

message 9203: by Donna (new)

Donna (donanicole) | 897 comments I am still having trouble finding a book that grabs me. The Camp grabbed hold at first but the dialogue seemed unrealistic so stopped reading. Went back to This Plague of Days (Season 2) by Robert Chazz Chute because I did love Season One. Also trying to get into The Rush (The Siren, #1) by Rachel Higginson because LOVE Rachel Higginson's Love and Decay, Volume One Season One, Episodes 1-6 by Rachel Higginson and read a review here saying The Rush is hard to get into but worth hanging in. So I am hanging in fora while longer.

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 957 comments Finished Body & Soul (The Ghost and the Goth, #3) by Stacey Kade last night. The trilogy was better than I would've expected based on the, frankly, cheesy title(The Goth and the Ghost) and covers, but it was nothing special. I don't regret reading it, but won't reread it either and can't recommend unless I know it meshes with someone's taste perfectly.

Starting Coraline by Neil Gaiman tonight. I have no clue why it took me this long to read this book.

message 9205: by Ashly (new)

Ashly (ashlyh) just started Hero by Perry Moore . so far its ok. it's just to much information. the main characters takes for ever to get to the point. he tells like a flashback to get to what he means. But its a standalone so I guess there will be a lot to read and understand.

message 9224: by Cindee (new)

Cindee | 331 comments I just finished reading the series The False Prince (The Ascendance Trilogy, #1) by Jennifer A. Nielsen The Runaway King (The Ascendance Trilogy, #2) by Jennifer A. Nielsen The Shadow Throne (The Ascendance Trilogy, #3) by Jennifer A. Nielsen I did enjoy the series, but the third book was disappointing. It was mostly description of a war that Jaron was fighting, and I really found that I was missing the cheeky character I had grown to love in book 1 and 2. Of course I would be disappointed in book 3, I usually am. Then I went on to A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness I adored this book. It was like a story a grown up would tell a child in bed. I just loved it! And cried of course. Great book. And now Im reading Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children, #1) by Ransom Riggs Im enjoying it so far. However, for the first part of the book I thought the main character was a little girl, not a boy. Then a few chapters in I realize it's a boy, I hate when that happens lol.
All of these books that I've read I've gotten from this post. You guys always recommend the best books!

message 9225: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 2372 comments Cindee I agree the third book was the weakest in the series. Still good overall.

Well, I just moved recently and have only been to this new library as a card carrier once, so I haven't asked. But I want to read them enough that I may have to go ahead and ask before I got in again next month.

Tommy Hancock (tommyhancock) | 957 comments I finished Coraline by Neil Gaiman this morning. It was enjoyable, but I really wish I could've read it when I was about 12, or at least before seeing the movie.

I think I'm gonna start The Raven Boys (The Raven Cycle, #1) by Maggie Stiefvater tonight. Not 100% sure what it's about, but hey, it's in front of me and has a cool cover so I'll give it a shot.

Nice. :) I have my first Neil Gaiman book, [bookcover:The Graveyard Book|2213661], it sounds really interesting, but like you, I wish I'd read this book as a child. Or at least a preteen. I'm looking forward to eventually reading it though.

I really loved The Raven Boys (The Raven Cycle, #1) by Maggie Stiefvater but I listened to it on audio and Wil Patton narrating was a big part of why I loved it so much! I do want to get to The Dream Thieves (The Raven Cycle, #2) by Maggie Stiefvater and then Blue Lily, Lily Blue (The Raven Cycle, #3) by Maggie Stiefvater soon after! Love those covers!

GAH GAH AHH! Karen, I will vouch for these books until the end of time. They are so special, and so unique. Simply exquisite, phenomenal books. I am literally dying for Blue Lily, Lily Blue. I hope you enjoy the next two, I'm sure you will. I sure enjoyed the two which are currently out. They are among my all time favorites!
