Thanks! I really appreciate that!
Haha, I'm not sure I have the time or the commitment to write a book- I do have a friend who is writing a novel, though, and I am fully supporting her!

Sorry to hear that Kaylani.
May I suggest Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief? Fun little middle-grade book that fans of all ages enjoy.

message 7860: by Kaylani (new)

Kaylani (cityeclectics) | 297 comments I think I have that series in ebook form. I don't own it in hard copy. If not I will have to visit my bookshelves to see what middle grade books are waiting to be read.

I finished reading both Alienated (Alienated, #1) by Melissa Landers and The Taking (The Taking, #1) by Kimberly Derting last night. Both about aliens, but both very different!

I definitely recommend the Taking, its a very quick read with a really cool ending. Solid 4 star read. Parts of if made me think of The Darkest Minds. The beginning was awesome, the middle was a little slower, but the last 100 pages--holy crap! It does have a big cliffhanger ending though, fair warning!

Today going to start The Edge of Never (The Edge of Never, #1) by J.A. Redmerski a reread of The Bitter Kingdom (Fire and Thorns, #3) by Rae Carson

I put off Defending Jacob for a while because I couldn't get interested whenever I would start it. It finally did get going and midway through the end was pretty good.

Okay tell us what you think about I Am the Messenger in the thread!

message 7880: by Cindee (new)

Cindee | 331 comments Finished The Lost Girl by Sangu Mandanna which was pretty decent till the end. Booo....hate bad endings. The author said it's because she left it open to continue the story if she felt she wanted too, but tied it up enough so that if she didn't want to write anymore on it, it was good enough. It defiantly needs another book. But the author doesn't feel at this time she wants to write anymore about those characters.
Im now reading Amongst the Ruins (The Chronicles of 2020, #1) by Saewod Tice which is pretty decent so far. Im only on chapter 8, but it's caught my interest so far.

I loved the whole Cousins War series, the last book is probably my least favorite, but still thought it was well done. I don't meet many people that enjoy the history novels from Gregory Philippa, but I find her books so amazing. After each book I find myself doing my own research on that time era.

Cindee, I do the same thing! I read the 5 books completely out of the order they were written, but can't wait until the next one comes out. I'm constantly jumping onto google to see pictures of everyone. I had no idea that one of Shakespeare's plays was about this era and this Richard the King! I just finished reading about Jaquetta and Margaret of Anjou. Absolutely fascinating!

Honestly I don't think I can recommend anything because I think it's all up to personal preference. The one thing I would recommend is staying away from another book that may make you emotional.
