Sabrina (sabrina-anne) | 5 comments For over 6 years Ive been trying to find this book. I used to think it was by Charles Dickens but its not "the Master's Cat" so ill tell you all the details i can remember

I think he cover is a silhouette of a city, boy and cat. pretty sure there is a lot of blues in it.

The background story of the cat is that it used to be in a pet shop or had a bad owner or something but it was once attacked by rats and almost hairless and a mean person had cut off its tail or something. It saw a poor orphan(??) boy(Age=?) one day and decided to be friends. I'm positive she couldn't talk.

At one point the boy meets a girl/lady and the cat liked to sit on her lap. I think she was rich because she lived in a manor type thing.

My imagination made me think of the 1800s london/paris with cobblestone streets and lots of the smokey soot everywhere.

At some point the cat gets pregnant and gives birth in the middle of a storm at sea on a ship ( I believe they traveled with sailors because I think they are on a ship travelling a few times) , but later when the boy tries finding her, he finds the kittens in a barrel or something and believes she fell overboard and died. I think the boy dropped his handkerchief into the sea in remembrance of her and so if she was magically still alive and found it, she would know he hadn't forgotten her.

Please I would love all the help i can get! I think its a chapter book like a 12 year old would read maybe?

- Im thinking its a twisted version of Dick Whittington, nut Im not too sure and I have no idea on the aurhor because there's a LOT of book on this guy.

This is the closest story i could find to it, even though its a video.
