Welcome to August's Build Your Own Challenge

Duration: August 1st - 31st

The idea of this challenge is to make it work for you. Whatever books you read can qualify for this month so long as YOU make it qualify.

Examples:

Choose an August theme - vacations, beach trips, end of summer.

Books published in August.

Or just choose to clear off your TBR shelf.

If it works for you, it works for this challenge!

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Laura, the monthly book club... does that meet offline or online? Just curious! Great job, even though you didn't finish. Summer months are harder to fit in reading time, it seems.

Offline...it's at my local library. The members nominate the books for each year and we decide as a group what to read each month. The person who nominated the book is then the leader for the discussion.

I could've read that last one in one day, but I had a lot going on this past weekend. I knew it would be a light month just because I was gone on vacation for two weeks.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments That sounds fun! Is it a large group? I've found with some of the smaller 'friend' group reads, people get offended (well, the same "certain" people anyway) when not everyone agrees on points of the story with them.

Laura (filoviridae) | 783 comments We started off reading Jane Austen and there were about six of us. We're now numbering around a dozen regulars. We do sometimes butt heads, but for the most part we agree to disagree. Since we do a lot of classics we try to also talk about what was happening politically, economically, socially, etc. to add more context. One lady is in love with critical essays so we get a lot of that, too.
