It's really good, it's more dystopian than anything, but there's a bit of romance too, and the main character is pretty feisty too! Hope it carries on this good!

I also just finshed The Bitter Kingdom (Fire and Thorns, #3) by Rae Carson and like with the second book in the series, it left me quite disappointed. There's nothing wrong with the book itself but it's just not for me. I find the characters admirable and I wish they were more characters as strong, generous and brave as Elisa and Hector in ya litterature, but I never felt any connection to them. And the plot of the second and third book bored me a lot.

Again, I don't think there's anything wrong with the book itself. My issues with the book come only from me. I guess that series just wasn't for me. It happens...

These past days, I also read Lies (Gone, #3) by Michael Grant and I really enjoyed it. Maybe not as much as the first books in the series but still.

I tried reading the Gone series, and I might try again at some point, but I found it really slow.

message 2064: by Marie (new)

Marie | 257 comments I can easily understand why some people would find the Gone series slow!
I just love survival stories and seeing what people have to do to survive so I don't really mind.

Netgalley is an online site where reviewers can request digital review copies of books - a lot of which will be pre-publication or ARCs (Advance Readers Copy).
You can find netgalley here: https://www.netgalley.com/

Then I plan to start Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell for a buddy read on Monday. If I didn't have papers to grade and progress reports due on Tuesday, it'd be a snap. LOL

Marie | 257 comments these past days I've read The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater and my faith in maggie stiefvater is now restored! I read Shiver many years ago and thought it was alright (but I think I'd hate it if I read it now instead) and read The Raven Boys not so long ago and pretty much hated it so I was really scared to read this one. I can see why some people didn't like it since it a slow book and all but I'm starting to realize that I love slow books when they're done well and when they have incredible characters and beautiful writting in it.

I also read Lies (Gone, #3) by Michael Grant and loved it, like every single book in this series. And there was less Lana's chapters so I was glad about it.

I also read The Hallowed Ones (The Hallowed Ones, #1) by Laura Bickle and it was just fabulous. Sometimes, it was a little thought to read because the main character's believes are so different from mines but by the end of the book she completly won me over and she's now of of my favorite character, ever! I'm so thankfull that I've waited until the second book was out to read it so now I'll be able to complete this duology.

I'm now reading Fear (Gone, #5) by Michael Grant and The Outside (The Hallowed Ones, #2) by Laura Bickle
