I think this one is going to feel like a really looooong series. I thought there was only going to be 3 books but there's actually 4.

DeAnna (dee84812) I started City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) by Cassandra Clare a couple days ago, but I haven't had much reading time, so I'm not very far into it yet.

Abi (abi_gr) | 27659 comments The Glimpse (The Glimpse, #1) by Claire Merle Finding it quite boring.

Marie | 257 comments I finished The Raven Boys and..argh...was a dissapointement. I thought the plot was boring (it did pick up towards the end but it was too late for me to care...) and I didn't care about any of the characters. All the boys perspectives sounded the same despite the fact that they had such different backgrounds....

I'm about to start Bittersweet by Sarah Ockler and Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (Harry Potter, #1) by J.K. Rowling . I'm exited since it's the first time that I'll read Harry Potter in english.

The Raven Boys is a bit of a weird one. Way too slow. I think if the author had gotten on with it and told the story in 1 book rather than 4 it might have been a better read!

Watch out for Bittersweet by Sarah Ockler it will make you want to make cupcakes!

I also think the author should have told the story in 1 book (or 2). But maybe the next book will change my mind. I remember having similar thoughts for The Iron King (The Iron Fey, #1) by Julie Kagawa and I ended up really liking the others books.

And miam, cupcakes! I'm already hungry I guess I should start this book later this evening then!

I really liked it! It was really good, though it was confusing that all of the enemies from the first and second became good. Lol

I'm going to try and join you for this one if i can get my other buddy reads read!

I was considering Hidden Wings (Hidden Wings, #1) by Cameo Renae too so might wait and see what you think! I was slightly put off by the line about 'six, gorgeously captivating Guardians' I'm thinking love-heptagon?

I just started reading One for the Money (Stephanie Plum, #1) by Janet Evanovich . It is pretty funny. It is a fun light read.

I don't have that one or I'd read it with you. I was a bit put off by the 'six gorgeous guardians' thing.
I can't decide what to read next now :(

message 1990: by Marie (new)

Marie | 257 comments These past days, I read for the first time Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1) by J.K. Rowling and it was a really nice experience. It took me a while to get used to the writting style and to undertsand Hagrid (the way he talks in french translation was much easier to understand to me) and also to realize who was who (names aren't all the sames in the french translation) and get used to the ''wizzard'' vocabulary in english but in the end, it was great. I have to say however, that while I usually don't like translations in french and think that the people who did Harry Potter did an AMAZING job. I don't say this often but Harry Potter's translation is just as good as the original in my opinion.

I also read Bittersweet by Sarah Ockler and at first I loved it and loved the main character ( I related a lot to her) but then BAM!The main character became so annoying that I couldn't stand the book. She's one of the most selfish character I've read about.

Then, for the last book in my 2013 challenge (read 130 books/shorts story, graphic novels), I chose A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, #1) by George R.R. Martin . I was really scared but exited when I started it because, I wasn't a big fan of the tv show. I liked but I got bored after a few episoded and I was never able to get back into it (I felt lost because a lot of times had passed and I didn't remeber that much about what I had seen).
I was also scared that I wouldn't be able to get use to the writing style since it's an adult book and when I read the prologue I thought I wouldn't be able to get throught the book because I was so confused. I didn't undertsand what was going on, who was who....The writting was so descriptive... but then I read the first chapter and all my issues with the prologue were gone and I just couldn't stop reading! It's amazing.

I am glad that I've watch most of the tv show because it really help visualize the characters, the places and everything and I would probably be a little lost without it. I'll probably watch the rest of the tv shows before I read the other books ( I don't have the money to buy the big paperpacks editions that I love and I hate mass market), even if I know that thinks started to get a little (or a lot) different from the books in season 2 and 3. I still think it'll help me understand the books better.

Good day you're having today with books! not! I'm trying to read Covet (The Clann, #2) by Melissa Darnell , but sometimes it just feels so long winded. It's like nothing is happening. I really wish the story would just get a move on.

Water by Natasha Hardy This book is doing my head in. For someone who claims to know nothing about the non-existant 'fish people' he sure seems to know a hell of a lot about them, including the fact that they are carniverous and will eat you if you meet one underwater. I mean really?

I may have to switch books. I'm not in the mood for such dross at the moment.

Stay With Me (With Me #1) by Elyssa Patrick
so far, we've had this scene:
she's carrying a drink and bags, and someone bumps into her, and gets her drink all down her.
He then offers to take her to his house round the corner so that she can change out of her wet top. Oh, and she's a pop star and really famous by the way....

Am I really reading this or am I watching 'Notting Hill'?

And now she's just told him when offered a clean shirt:
"I'm sure it'll fit, I like big things."
How embarrassing!
