Kyra I'm currently reading The Subtle Knife (His Dark Materials, #2) by Philip Pullman . It's not as good as The Golden Compass.

I thought all three of those were quite slow. Took me a long time to get through them.

It's not slow to me, but it's hard to get into. I just finished the book, and it's all much bigger than I thought. (view spoiler)

message 1910: by Greta (new)

Greta (goodreadsgreta) | 4545 comments I'm reading Just Remember to Breathe by Charles Sheehan-Miles which is a little slow, but I like it. I think anyone who loved Lucas from Easy by Tammara Webber would like Dylan from this book.

It was pretty good. Emotional, NA
I just realized that it was written by a man! I don't know why I am always surprised when men write good romance.

I thought Partials was quite slow, took me ages to get through it, kept putting it down and reading something else then going back to it. The second one was the same. Really long for what you get. I liked both in the end though.

Yeah. I felt that too. So I decided to put it down and read OBSIDIAN instead!

And, for goodness!, Obsidian is so steamy and the writing is so magnetizing! I'm having a book hangover again! :)

I loved Hunger! If you liked Gone I'm sure you will love it too but if you didn't, then I wouldn't reccomend it. It's very similar to Gone.

This week, I also read Strands of Bronze and Gold (Strands of Bronze and Gold, #1) by Jane Nickerson and I really liked it. It had some flaws but it was interesting.

Now, I'm reading The Devouring (The Devouring, #1) by Simon Holt . It's not the greatest book ever (so far) but I haven't read many ya horror books and it's nice to read something different from what I usually read. I'll admit that it helped that I went to see ''The Conjuring'' yesterday. It helped to get into the mood of this book.

So far, it's a little creepy.

Abi (abi_gr) | 27659 comments Got halfway through Earth Girl (Earth Girl, #1) by Janet Edwards but couldn't finish.

It was info dump after info dump, and was just really really dull.

message 1937: by Marie (new)

Marie | 257 comments I finished The devouring and it's not one of my favorite books but I liked it.

I'm reading The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater and I don't really know what to think of it yet. At first, when it was the girl's perspective, I liked it but the boys's perspectives are making me so confuse. They all sounds the same and most of the times, I don't really understand what's it's going on and argh...

message 1938: by John (new)

John Boettcher (tennisislife) Currently reading "Wool". Pretty good book, about halfway through. Better than alot of books of the same sort, the story line is really developing, hope the author keeps it up and has some good surprises in it for the next 600 pages or so.

Reading Monsters (Ashes Trilogy, #3) by Ilsa J. Bick ! Might have actually found a good one! Hope it is anyway cause it's really long! Kindle says it's going to take another 12 hours to finish it!

If the hardcover on GR is right, it's 821 pages, qhich is quiet long!
Paperback on amazon is saying 606 pages, which should be a little easier on my hands when i get it!

Hopefully you like it, there's nothing worse than the last book in the series being awful!

I was worried that this was going to be awful cause someone had started it and left a status update saying it was slow and never finished it! It's very action packed so far, but I'm only at 6% so things could change!

The only thing about these books is that there's no recap of the previous books at all, it's just straight back in! Thankfully the author wrote summaries for the first two books on her website though so it's easy to get a refresher without having to read the first books again. I think all author's should do that!

message 1943: by Abi (new)

Abi (abi_gr) | 27659 comments Recaps are really helpful.
I think i'll probably just wait until that one comes out, then read them all together.
I loved Ashes, but haven't got around to Shadows, so re reading Ashes first wouldn't be so bad. :)
