message 1714: by Marie (new)

Marie | 257 comments I had a very good week end when it comes to reading!

I finished Dance of the Red Death (Masque of the Red Death, #2) by Bethany Griffin and I loved it. A really good conclusion to the first book.

I also read A Girl Like You by Gemma Burgess and I loved it too but there was one thing that annoyed me. At some point in the book the main character just stop using her brain and become a living cliché. I think the author is really talented but that part of the book was terrible in my opinion. I can undertsand that sometimes a girl can fall for a boy really fast despite the signs that something is wrong but in this book it was just ridiculous. Also, from what we're told in the book, the boy in question was very charismatic and charming and it's probably because of that that the main character decide to ignore all the signs that something is wrong. The problem is, I never felt that ''charisma'' and in my opinion, a good author should be able to makes me see that ''charisma', and understand what the main character saw in him.

Also, I have big issues with girl that feel like not seeing their boyfriend for 5 days is the end of the world (specially when you have a big opportunity in front of you). I'm sorry but...noo...just nooooo!!!!

Anyway, I also read Saving June by Hannah Harrington and thought it was great. You should definitively give it a try if you haven't read it.

I also started The Pirate's Wish (The Assassin's Curse, #2) by Cassandra Rose Clarke and it alredy amazing so far.

I'm also reading Cleaning House A Mom's Twelve-Month Experiment to Rid Her Home of Youth Entitlement by Kay Wills Wyma ALL year with my MOMS Club. Just a Task/Chapter a month.

And I'm reading/listening to Peter and the Starcatchers (Peter and the Starcatchers, #1) by Dave Barry . Although, it's been a while since I listened to it, so I might just start over.

I know, I know! I always want to but I'm always worried that I won't find the time but I'll definitvely try one next month!

Yesterday I finished
Finnikin of the Rock (Lumatere Chronicles #1) by Melina Marchetta and Wow, just WOw. I can't find the words to explain how amazing that book was.

And today I started The Hero's Guide to Saving Your Kingdom (The League of Princes, #1) by Christopher Healy and I'm really enjoing it so far. Children fiction is not often working for me but I think this book will make me change my mind!

I've heard some good things about it. I can't wait to see what you think about it. I'll probably buy it when I'll have some money since it's now in the bargain section on amazon. I know it will be money well spent, if only for the cover!

I'm almost done with
One For The Money (Stephanie Plum, #1) by Janet Evanovich and I really like it. It's a fun and quick read and just what I needed about a ''heavy'' book like Finnikin of the Rock (Lumatere Chronicles #1) by Melina Marchetta .

When I'll finish One for the money, I'll probably start Of Poseidon (Of Poseidon, #1) by Anna Banks
