But honestly, all thanks goes to u for being an awesome writers and giving us a cool world to escape to!

I got from Goodwill:

And at BAM I splurged and got

Total spent at Goodwill was $4.25. Total spent at BAM was much (much!) higher, but I did get 5th Wave for 50% off.
I fear I'm on a bender here in August. Perhaps it's time to actually read the books and stop buying them. Although I have to say - I'm mostly buying ones I've already read or have on audio!

LOL Jen, I also got Memoirs of a Geisha at my Goodwill last week!

Oh. My. Gosh. That is seriously incredible, amazing, I'm breathless and don't have words. So so so nice of you and means the world to me. I've had a few other awesome teachers (like you!) include my books in reading program's or their libraries. It's THE BEST feeling in the world, so thank you for giving me that gift!!!

Burn for Burn was pretty good, but it was a pretty big cliffhanger. The next book,
comes out in September.

As you know I am not a fan of the series itself BUT I was possibly going to check out the movie if it looked good; however, as I noted earlier I watched the trailer with an open mind and it kind of sucked IMO. It did not make me want to see the movie at all. I was never a fan of Twilight either but at least the trailer for the movie made me interested. Just my two cents (unsolicited as always!)

I believe the next book is already out!

It was good. I've seen better, I've seen worse. Lily Collins is no Jennifer Lawrence but I think she'll get better as the franchise progresses. Honestly, I wish she'd find another expression for when she's shocked rather than standing there with her mouth open. The other actors were good, but I'm not sure they really captured the characters as they were in the book. Isabelle wasn't as sassy, Jace wasn't as much of a smartass or uncaring or moody and Magnus Bane didn't have that "why should I help you?" all-knowing swagger. Jonathan Rhys-Meyers as Valentine seemed a bit too wild-eyed. On the other hand, Alec and Simon were spot-on, as was Hodge.
The storyline semi-followed the book. They left out some things that I think would have made the story better (such as the clever banter in the kitchen over Isabelle's soup). The whole vampire set was just as I had imagined it, but the scene was a lot different than the book. And in an unnecessary way, I thought - it could have followed the book exactly and worked better in the same amount of time.
All the sets were wonderful. Special effects were about average. The pacing was good but like I said, I think a couple of the scenes could have easily followed the book far more closely. There didn't seem to be a good sense of the passage of time, but that's common in movies. It's hard to accomplish in a film; a lot of things get sacrificed for the sake of the plot being expressed in action scenes. In this case, I really think the whole point got lost and only a couple of lines really spoke to the real issue.
But it's a movie, and not a book, and only "based" on the book. So there you go.
All in all, I think it will be worth seeing again with my family. I saw it alone - and for me, seeing any movie more than once is saying a lot about what I think of its quality.
Sorry I'm so long-winded -- I love movies and I love reviewing them. I think my favourite class in college was Intro to Film. It's that perfect combination of writing and watching a story.
Let us all know what you think when you see it! You always have a wonderfully critical view, and I always appreciate it.

I'll be interested to hear what you think of it.
I'm going to see City of Bones tomorrow, so I will add my 2 cents after I watch it. I don't know how much help I'll be though. I'm not very critical of book to movie adaptations. Its been about 6 months since I've read City of Bones, so I'm sure I won't notice small details. The main thing for me in this movie that I want to see is staying true to the characters. TMI is not my favorite series, but I do love these characters, and that is why I'm still reading! The actual plot of the books was good for the first three, but then it went downhill for me. I still love those characters, though! So based on what you said, Jen , I really hope I'm not disappointed. But my favorite characters are Alec and Simon, so maybe it will work out for me!
Sorry for my rambling, lol!
